Have a Big Idea in Science or Math? Here’s Your Chance to Share It with the World – and Win Big!

Are you a curious and creative mind between the ages of 13 and 18? Do you love solving scientific puzzles, explaining complex ideas, or thinking in equations and experiments? Then the 2026 Breakthrough Junior Challenge is calling your name.

This global science video competition is more than just a contest—it's a launchpad for young thinkers ready to make their mark. Whether you're into physics, mathematics, or life sciences, this is your chance to break down a big idea in a short, powerful video and share your insight with the world.

Who can apply?
Anyone aged 13 to 18 from anywhere in the world. You must be at least 13 by May 1, 2025, and not yet 19 by October 1, 2025. The challenge is open to all—students in school, homeschooled, and those with disabilities.

What do you need to do?

  1. Choose a topic
    Pick a difficult and important concept in physics, mathematics, or life sciences.

  2. Make a video (2 minutes max)
    Your job is to explain that concept in a way that is clear, creative, and engaging. Use visuals, animations, experiments—whatever brings the idea to life.

  3. Submit your video
    Upload your final video to YouTube, fill in the application (starting May 1, 2026), and share your submission on Facebook. You’ll also take part in a peer review process by evaluating five other entries.

Judging Criteria:

  • Engagement – Will your video hold a viewer’s attention?

  • Illumination – Does it clearly explain the topic?

  • Creativity – How original and imaginative is your presentation?

  • Difficulty – How challenging is the concept you chose?

Wildlife Short film Contest 2025

In honor of Wildlife Week 2025, the Kerala Forest Department (KFD) invites filmmakers and nature enthusiasts to participate in the Wildlife Short Film Contest 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your creativity while raising awareness about the beauty of nature and wildlife in Kerala.





Contest Details

Eligibility:
Open to all Indian citizens of any age. Employees and immediate family members of KFD are not eligible.

Contest Period:
Entries will be accepted from September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. IST to September 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. IST. Late entries will not be accepted.

How to Participate:

  • Entry Fee: None.
  • Submission Method: Fill out the prescribed Registration Form and submit it along with your short film video to:

Theme of the Contest

Your short film should focus on Nature and Wildlife, filmed within the stunning landscapes of Kerala.


Language of the Film

The film can be produced in English or Malayalam only.


Technical Specifications

  • Length and Format: The film should be 5 to 26 minutes long and submitted in either MOV or MP4 format.
  • Resolution: Full HD (1920 x 1080) or higher.
  • Audio: Stereo mix or better.
  • Submission Medium:
    • Submit the film on a Pen Drive or Hard Disk along with the filled Registration Form in a sealed cover.
    • Also, upload the film to your Google Drive account and share the link to wlwshortfilm2024@qmail.com with "Can view only" permissions.

Note: The Google Drive link alone will not be accepted as a valid entry.


Winner Selection and Prizes

  • Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges from KFD. Their decisions are final and binding.
  • Prizes:
    • 1st Prize: ₹30,000 + Certificate of Recognition
    • 2nd Prize: ₹20,000 + Certificate of Recognition
    • 3rd Prize: ₹10,000 + Certificate of Recognition
    • Additionally, 2 Certificates of Merit will be awarded as consolation prizes.

All prizes are subject to applicable taxes and regulations. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Art for Well-being Competition 2023

The Art for Well-being Competition 2023 seeks to allow young people to creatively express how they feel about wellbeing using music, art or short film and winners will receive cash prizes.

PMNCH’s “Art for Well-being Competition``, open to young people aged 10-24, has three categories: film, video and design through which we want to see you express yourself and answer the question “What does well-being mean to you?”.  This competition, and the “What Young People Want” Initiative are just some of the ways we are giving the floor to young people around the world to express what they want for their well-being, in support of the Global Forum for Adolescents and the 1.8 Campaign. 


Quality and relevance to the five domains of adolescent well-being will be crucial for successful entries to the competition and selected masterpieces will be featured at the Global Forum for Adolescents itself, at major events leading up to the Global Forum such as UN General Assembly in New York and throughout the 1.8 Billion Young People for Change campaign. Submissions are accepted until 2 July 2023, with winners decided through a social-media and jury vote, and announced at the Global Forum for Adolescents, 11-12 October 2023.

The Radiant Peace Education Awards - Project, Video, Essay and Art

The International Museum of Radiant Peace is the first-ever and only museum in the world dedicated to Radiant Peace. Visitors of all ages learn about Radiant Peace through a variety of educational and interactive exhibits including “Radiant Peace and Animals,” “Radiant Peace around the World,” and “Radiant Peace in the Solar System.” This unique museum also showcases award-winning essays, art and videos about Radiant Peace from students throughout the United States and around the world. 

All students in grades 1-12 – from public and private schools, home schools, youth and after-school

ICAW Video Contest

This international contest runs from September 1st until November 1st, 2022. Anyone in grades 4 – 8 or ages 10 – 13 can enter.


Offered to children and teens ages 10 - 13, the video contest requires a 30 second video highlighting ICAW and the theme for this year, For Healthier Soil, Healthier Food…Compost!, should show something related to the benefits of compost use and/or organics recycling. Such as: compost bin, vegetable or fruit garden, food waste and then compost. For more ideas on what you might want to include in your video, contact us at info@compostfoundation.org. The winner of this contest will receive $100.


Eligibility
Grade 4 – 8 (Age 10 – 13)

Video entry checklist:
Must have in the video International Compost Awareness Week, May 7 – 13, 2023 either written or said verbally
Must have For Healthier Soil, Healthier Food…Compost! written or said verbally
Video Length: No more than 30 seconds
Video subject must relate to something related to compost or organics recycling, for example, showing a garden with compost or healthier veggies growing because of compost use, showing a compost bin, collecting food waste, composting at school, etc.
Must post video to YouTube or Vimeo and provide us the link.

Earth Photo - Photography competition and exhibition



Earth Photo is an innovative competition and exhibition developed jointly by Forestry England and the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) which reflects the organisations’ common interest in enabling a better understanding of the world around us through our complementary disciplines of the Environment and Geography. Earth Photo will focus on photographs or films which describe one of the following subjects; People, Place, Nature, Changing Forests and A Climate of Change.

EXHIBITION
The Earth Photo exhibition will be open at the Royal Geographical Society, London between 17 June and 26 August 2022 and within the forests of Forestry England.

PRIZES
First Prize: A special prize will be awarded to one outstanding photographer.

Winners will also be selected for each of the categories and awarded £250 each:

People
Place
Nature
Changing Forests
A Climate of Change
A prize will also be awarded for a Short Film.

The overall Earth Photo 2022 Winner and all the other prize winners will be announced during the exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society, London. One of the world’s finest collections of photography, artwork and mapping which records over 500 years of travel, people, place and geographical discovery from the 1480s to the present day.

HOW TO ENTER
The competition is open to all professional and amateur, national and international photographers of all ages. Entrants are invited to submit up to 10 still photographs or films. All entrants must ensure that the quality of their entries meets the competition’s criteria as stated in the Rules and Guidelines. 

ENTRY FEE
An Entry Fee of £15 will be charged to each entrant for up to 10 images.

Deadline for entries: Tuesday 3 May 2022, 5pm (BST)

Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate - Video Making Competition

As the nation commemorates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, marking the 75 glorious years of India’s Independence, Vigyan Prasar, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) and 18other Ministries of the Government of India, is holding a mega event “Vigyan SarvatraPujyate”(Science is revered everywhere)during the national Science Week (22-28 February 2022).

To engage the masses with the mission, Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate - Video Making Competition invites original creative, innovative and interesting entries.

The video film shall not be more than 120 seconds, including the beginning and end credits. Video exceeding this time limit are liable to be rejected. The minimum length should be 30 seconds including credits. The video should be shot in HD format. Video containing offensive or inappropriate language or political overtones will not be accepted.

The competition will remain open from 1st February to 17th February 2022.

Prizes and certificates will be given to the top five participants.

Surya Namaskar Video Contest



On the holy occasion of Makar Sankranti on 14th January 2022 under #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, Ministry of Ayush is organising a large scale virtual Surya Namaskar programme where 75 lakh people (participants) will practice Surya Namaskar on 14-01-2022 observing covid appropriate behavior.

This festival comes as a thanksgiving to Mother Nature for spreading health, wealth and happiness around. It is important to mention here that Surya Namaskar is a set of asanas in a combination of 12 steps. These steps comprise 8 asanas in which 4 asanas are repeated. All the 12 steps are to be done in a chronological manner in order to complete the process of one round of Surya Namaskar.

Student Video Contest - World of 7 Billion

Create a short video – up to 60 seconds – about human population growth that highlights one of the following global challenges: Promoting Environmental Justice, Strengthening Global Health, Re-Imagining Industrial Systems.

The Topic for the Contest

Explain how population growth impacts one of the following global challenges and offer an idea for a sustainable solution. The global challenges are: agriculture and food, urbanization, or ocean health.

Narrow Your Focus
Narrow your focus by concentrating on a subtheme within your topic. The strongest videos don’t try to tackle an entire global challenge. Possible subthemes include:

Agriculture and Food – High water use/irrigation; Chemical runoff; Changing diets; Soil health (erosion, desertification, etc); Impacts of climate change (drought, decrease in agricultural productivity, etc.); Habitat loss; Food insecurity; Fossil fuel use
Urbanization – Sprawl; Urban poverty and access to services; Overburdened infrastructure (transportation, sanitation, etc.); Water and air quality; Housing/affordability; Access to green space; Rural-to-urban migration
Ocean Health – Overfishing; Aquaculture; Loss of ocean biodiversity; Impacts of climate change (sea level rise, ocean acidity, etc.); Mangrove destruction; Dying coral reefs; Aquatic pollution

All video submissions must be received by 5:00pm ET on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

Who can enter?
Any middle or high school student (grade 6-12, or the international equivalent) is free to enter. Students may be located anywhere in the world.

Videos are judged by topic (Agriculture and Food; Urbanization; Ocean Health). Within each topic, awards will be presented as follows:

High School

26th All India Children’s Educational Audio Video Festival


All India Children’s Educational Audio Video Festival (AICEAVF) and ICT Mela is one of the major children’s educational audio-video programme festivals of India, organised by Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), NCERT, Delhi. This event is being organized to promote creative expression amongst educational media professionals, teacher educators, trainee teachers, teachers and students. Originally, it was started by CIET and State Institute of Educational Technology (SIETs) together and it has emerged as India’s major educational programme festival. As the best audio, video, new media and ICT programmes are showcased, discussed, recognized, appreciated and awarded, such events contribute in the longer run towards enhancing quality learning of the children. This year due to COVID-19, the festival and ICT Mela will be held online. The exact dates of the festival will be announced later.

Years back, our nation's pride, great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose saw a dream of free & progressive India. Today as we commemorate 75th year of free India, it is time to live his dream and make a video representing "Netaji ke sapnon ka bharat" under #KadamKadambadhayeja and #Netaji125 It is an initiative to encourage youth of the country to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and get inspired by Netaji's life.
