Annual AFSF High School Design Competition 2026 - International Contest

The Architectural Foundation of San Francisco (AFSF) is excited to announce the 57th Annual AFSF High School Design Competition! This prestigious event invites high school students from both public and private schools across the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond to showcase their creativity and vision in urban design.

San Francisco, like many other coastal cities, is re-imagining its waterfront with an eye towards mitigating sea-level rise and meeting other urban challenges while enhancing iconic civic spaces.

Aligned with the city’s Climate Action Plan, the plan, called “Fisherman’s Wharf Revitalized,” calls for mixed-use development of Seawall Lot 300/301, a section of the waterfront just west of Pier 39.  Proposed elements include:

1)  Two public plazas or promenades (one of which will replace the last block of The Embarcadero)

2)  A visitor’s center

3)  A restaurant & boba cafe

4)  Eight short-term vacation rental units

Design Brief and Guidelines

Find details in this year’s design brief, along with context, suggestions, and more aspects to consider.

The competition has an online submission process with two options:

1)   Individual Entry

2)   Group Entry

Awards will be given to the best designs in each of these two categories.  The option you choose to enter will determine which awards you are eligible for.

All deliverables (drawings, model, and design description) must be captured in a Google Slides deck for presentation.

To explain your thinking to the judges, we also require a brief video describing your project (2 minutes max). In previous years, many entrants enjoyed this opportunity to talk about the overall goals and aspirations for their design and their design process.

Awards & Recognition

The competition will award multiple prizes in the following categories:

  1. Best Design (Single Entrant)

  2. Best Group Entry

In addition to the standard prizes, the first place winner in the overall superiority category receives a four-week Summer Pre-college Scholarship at the California College of the Arts.

Final entries must be submitted on FRIDAY, May 8th, 2026

KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD 2023

The KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD is an international competition for user-centric product design, where the best of the best are actually put on the consumer market.
The world became new while we were totally unprepared for it.
Before we are given time to think carefully about things,
what we like, dislike, agree with, disagree with,
our once-familiar everyday life continues to change.
So we try to catch up with the changes, and in our rush
many ideas spring up and disappear.
What’s important in product design now
is to try to face the things around us anew.
To take a deep look at the value of continuing to be lastingly and broadly loved.
To end not only with an idea, but to think through every detail,
to be persistent, and give shape to a product.

V-Guard Big Idea Design & Tech Challenge 2022

V-Guard articulates its Brand Purpose / Vision as “Bringing home a better tomorrow”.

It believes this can only be achieved by a deep understanding of consumers, their pains, pleasures and aspirations which helps it to challenge benchmarks in every category it operates in. It is a Brand that thinks and does not just manufacture and market.

The aspirations of a “better tomorrow” are the aspirations of young India. Every year it invites bright young minds to partner V-Guard in this endeavour by Ideas on Business Models and Product Engineering that can “Bring home a better tomorrow” for future generations.

The World has not been challenged like it has been in the last couple of years. V-Guard believes that this is the time to think about The Next Big Leap, in the way business is conducted and how products are imagined, engineered, and produced.

The theme for V-Guard Big Idea 2022 is “The Next Big Leap”.

Design the Fertilizer Bag

The concept of “One Nation, One Fertilizer" is about having one single brand name for urea and other fertilizers instead of several brand names of companies, which is in practice as of now. This will help in the reduction of freight charges due to stopping of criss-cross movement of fertilizers, reducing the transit time, ensuring the availability of fertilizers throughout the year irrespective of brand preferences, and stopping the diversion of urea for industrial purposes.

In view of the above, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers invites the citizens to design the Fertilizer Bag.

Prize: INR 10,000/- to the winning entry for designing the Fertilizer Bag

Design A Logo on NO CHILD LABOUR

NO CHILD LABOUR- Raise Awareness Against Child Labour, Design A Logo

Children are future of our country. They need to be nurtured. Every child should be given the opportunity to bloom her/his full potential. Child Labour deprives a child of the right to education, and jeopardizes her/his development.
The Citizens can play a crucial role by practicing “NO” to Child Labour in letter and spirit. Public needs to be alert about any incidence of Child Labour, and not only discourage it by not using products/services where Child Labour is employed, but also report the incidence. Child Labour is a cognizable offence, and employing a child can land one in jail.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, invites the citizens across the country to design a logo for “NO CHILD LABOUR”, which could be effectively used in their awareness campaign.

Posters as a type of visual art have become an important tool for advertising and promoting a plethora of causes. It is in fact a scientifically proven fact that posters have the potential to effectively expand knowledge, change attitudes and alter behaviors. When 17 lives are lost every passing hour in India owing to road crashes and close to 150 wild animals die due to the carelessness of the one on the driving seat, it would be a relevant measure to utilize the creative thinking and aesthetic skills of young artists across the nation especially in propagating the message of road safety to the masses.

In light of this, warm welcome to all the budding artists to participate in this Poster-Making competition and use your creative minds to create art that inspires. So, pick up your art supplies, turn on your graphic tablets and create breathtaking posters on the theme!
