Olympian Lakshmikant Pandey Trust Debate Competition 2026

The Olympian Lakshmikant Pandey Trust Debate Competition 2026 is an online debate competition that gives students an opportunity to develop their public speaking, analytical thinking, argumentation and communication skills.

The competition will focus on the contemporary constitutional issue of judicial independence in India.

Debate Topic

“Judicial Independence in India: Reality or Constitutional Idea?”

Participants can speak For or Against the motion and must clearly state their position before beginning their speech.

Eligibility

The competition is open to students from all streams and backgrounds.

Competition Format

• Mode: Online
• Platform: Google Meet
• Speaking time: 4 minutes
• Question & answer: 2 minutes
• Each participant will answer one question from the judges.
• Participants must have a working camera, microphone and stable internet connection.
• The preliminary rounds will be conducted in multiple online meetings.
• The top participants from the preliminary rounds will qualify for the final.

Judging Criteria

Participants will be evaluated on:

• Body Language – 20 marks
• Topic Clarity – 10 marks
• Content – 10 marks
• Language Command – 20 marks
• Time Management – 10 marks
• Etiquette – 10 marks
• Answering Skills – 20 marks

Total: 100 marks

• 1st Prize: ₹2,000
• 2nd Prize: ₹1,000
• 3rd Prize: ₹500
• 4th Prize: ₹250
• 5th Prize: ₹150
• 6th–10th Rank: ₹100 each
• 11th–20th Rank: ₹50 each
• 21st–30th Rank: ₹25 each

All participants will receive an E-Certificate, while rank holders will receive an E-Certificate of Merit along with their award.

Speak for India is an initiative by Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation to encourage young, dynamic, and enthusiastic minds across the nation to raise their voice on pertinent issues and play the role of change-makers in society. We cannot rule out the possibility that somewhere in the nation, there may be a young prodigy aspiring to be a great orator. The event offers college-going students a podium to explore their awareness, insights, and perspective on contemporary topics.

Rules and Regulations

All students competing in this competition must be registered.

All participants must be a student pursuing studies in a regular college in Kerala and not distance or correspondence education.

The previous finalists of any seasons will not be permitted to take part in the competition.

The debate has to be done only in Malayalam or in English and no other languages will be entertained at any point of competition.

Speakers must observe parliamentary language i.e. bad language is not permitted.

At any point in the competition, if it is found that the student does not belong to a particular college or has forged to get in competition he/she will be eliminated right away.

The judge’s decision will be considered final and in no terms will be allowed to fight against the decision.
