Are you a school student interested in robotics, engineering, coding, design and innovation? The Techfest OLL Robotics Championship 2026 offers an exciting national platform for students to design, build and compete with robots or present innovative engineering ideas.
Organised as part of Techfest, IIT Bombay, the championship features three different tracks, giving students opportunities to participate according to their interests and strengths.
๐ค Competition Tracks
1. RoboSumo
RoboSumo is a 1v1 knockout robotics competition where robots compete in a circular arena. The objective is to use structural design and strategy to push the opponent's robot out of the arena.
2. Roboracer
Roboracer is a 1v1 speed competition where RC robots race along a shared track. Participants need to focus on agile control, speed and engineering.
3. Robotics Innovation Challenge
The Robotics Innovation Challenge focuses on original problem-solving and research. Teams present an innovative idea or prototype addressing a problem and demonstrate their solution before a judging panel.
The Innovation Challenge has two age categories:
Junior: Grades 4–7
Senior: Grades 8–12
๐ฅ Eligibility
RoboSumo and Roboracer: Open to all school students.
Robotics Innovation Challenge: Junior category for Grades 4–7 and Senior category for Grades 8–12.
Team Size: 3 to 5 members per team across all three tracks.
๐ Competition Structure
RoboSumo & Roboracer
Round 1 – National Online Qualifier
Participation in the national online qualifier is mandatory. Teams must submit:
A 500–800 word technical abstract
A short video demonstrating their robot
Teams that qualify will advance to the nearest OLL Regional Qualifier.
Round 2 – OLL Regional Qualifiers
On-ground regional qualifiers will be conducted across five city hubs:
Mumbai
Kanpur
Delhi
Bangalore
Indore
The top 4 teams from each hub will advance to the Grand Finale at IIT Bombay.
Robotics Innovation Challenge
The Robotics Innovation Challenge follows its own two-round structure.
Round 1 – Online Qualifier
Teams must submit:
Problem write-up
Technical abstract
Design diagram
Short video demonstration of their prototype
Round 2 – Grand Finale
Shortlisted teams will present a live prototype demonstration and Q&A before a judging panel at IIT Bombay.
