Do you love creating characters, imagining new worlds and telling stories?
The GEMA International Short Story Writing Competition 2026 invites young writers aged 18 years or younger to showcase their storytelling skills and share their imagination with readers around the world.
Participants have the opportunity to have their stories published in the Best Story Book by and for Kids, which will be distributed globally. Winners can also receive Trophies, Medals, KidZania Passes, Training Programmes and Certificates.
The competition brings together young writers from 35 countries, providing an exciting international platform for budding authors.
Competition Categories
Participants can enter one category only and only one entry per person is accepted.

| Sub-junior | 7–8 years | 300 words |
| Junior | 9–11 years | 500 words |
| Middle | 12–14 years | 700 words |
| Senior | 15–18 years | 1,000 words |
Maximum length for all categories: 1,500 words
Story Guidelines
Stories must be written in English.
Entries must be submitted as a typed DOC file.
Handwritten entries will not be accepted.
Participants may choose any topic or genre for their story.
Only one story per participant is permitted.

A parent’s or teacher’s email address may be provided if required.
Publication and Prizes
Selected stories will have the opportunity to be published in the Best Story Book by and for Kids, giving young writers the chance to see their work published and shared internationally.
