JJALMAK International Youth Film Festival 2026: Young Voices, Big Ideas

What does a safer future look like through the eyes of a young person?

The 2026 JJALMAK International Youth Film Festival (JIYFF) is inviting young creators from around the world to answer that question through the power of film.

Designed for young people aged 7 to 18, the festival provides an international platform for children and teenagers to imagine the future, explore the meaning of safety, and express their ideas through short films.

The message is simple:

๐ŸŒ Imagine. Create. Speak through film.

Whether it is about protecting everyday life, building a safer world across borders, or finding innovative ways to protect our planet, young filmmakers are encouraged to share their vision in 90 seconds or less.

๐ŸŽฅ A Safer Future, Seen Through Young Eyes

The festival asks young creators to tell us about the future we can protect together—in their shortest, clearest and boldest voice.

You don't need to make a long film or have expensive equipment. What matters is the idea, creativity and message behind the film.

A smartphone, a creative concept and a story to tell could be enough to get started.

๐ŸŒ Who Can Participate?

The festival is open to young creators worldwide.

Eligibility
Age: 7–18 years
International category: Foreign nationals who do not hold Korean nationality
Participation: Individual or team
Team size: Up to 4 members
Entries: One film per individual or team
Guardian consent: Required for every participant

This makes JIYFF a wonderful opportunity for students, school film clubs, creative teams and young aspiring filmmakers to participate on an international platform.

๐Ÿ’ก Three Themes to Inspire Your Film

Participants can choose from three important themes.

1. Beyond Borders: Building Safety Together

Safety is a shared responsibility that extends beyond countries and communities.

Young filmmakers can explore ideas about international cooperation, friendship, understanding and working together to create a safer world.

2. Protecting Everyday Life: Safety Around Us

Safety is part of our everyday lives.

This theme encourages participants to look at the world around them and think about how we can make our homes, schools, communities, streets and daily lives safer.

Sometimes, the biggest ideas can be found in the smallest everyday situations.

3. Protecting the Future of the Planet: Green Innovation and Future Safety

The future of humanity is closely connected to the future of our planet.

Young creators can explore climate, environmental protection, sustainability, green technology and innovative solutions that can help create a safer future for generations to come.

⏱️ Keep It Short. Make It Powerful.

There is an important creative challenge:

Your film must be 90 seconds or less.

That means participants need to communicate their idea clearly and creatively in a very short amount of time.

Films should be submitted in:

MP4 or MOV format
Full HD or higher
Maximum file size: 2048 MB
Duration: 90 seconds or less

The short format makes the festival particularly interesting for young creators. Instead of relying on lengthy storytelling, participants must think about what message they want the audience to remember.

๐Ÿ† ₹— No, KRW 20 Million in Total Cash Prizes!

The festival offers a total of KRW 20,000,000 in cash prizes.

A total of 13 awards will be presented, including awards for:

Elementary school division
Middle school division
High school division
Four special awards

Importantly, there will be no separate Grand Prize.

This gives young filmmakers across different age groups an opportunity to compete and receive recognition for their creativity.
