10th annual competition for short films on human rights

he National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, has invited entries for its tenth annual competition for short films on human rights. The last date to receive the entries is 30th August, 2024. The winning entries will be awarded.

The Short Film Awards scheme was instituted by the Commission in 2015. The scheme aims to encourage and acknowledge cinematic and creative efforts of Indian citizens, irrespective of their age, towards promoting and protecting human rights. The Centre for Media Studies (CMS), with support from the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai, invites short films for its Green Frames Vatavaran Short Film Competition and Festival 2023.

This competition aims to highlight the urgency of environment/biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation/mitigation and demonstrate how lifestyle decisions affect the environment and promote best practices and positive stories that show how individuals, companies, and communities are grappling with environmental and climate challenges and taking action to improve the situation.

The theme of this competition is Environmental Preservation and Climate Advocacy.

SURAKSHA Short Film Competition 2023

SURveillance system to trAcK suicide and Self-HArm –SURAKSHA– A Community Based Suicide Prevention Model project invites short films for its ‘Short Film Competition – 2023’, which aims at recognizing the creative efforts towards promotion of ‘Creating Hope Through Action’ – Suicide Prevention.

The film may be in any technical format. The video may be in English or any Indian language with sub titles in English. The prize money for the first-best and second-best film will be Rs. 50 thousand and Rs. 25 thousand respectively.

Who can Compete?

Any Indian citizen can send his/her entry. However, each application should have one film only. The film(s) being sent for this competition should not be on social media platform(s).

Entry Fee

There is no entry fee.

Theme

‘Creating Hope Through Action’ – Suicide Prevention. Each entry should accompany the theme of the film.

• Duration of the film: Duration of the short film should not be more than 3 minutes.

• Film format: Short films may be in any form (fiction, documentary, animation etc.) shot with any device or camera set-up (in MP4 format, Full HD is mandatory).

• Title & Credits: Each film should depict its title and credits, including the names of the producer, writer and director.

Submission

Duly filled-in application form along with requisite documents, Film and its themes and synopsis should be uploaded in the folder of Google drive with title “SURAKSHA Short Film -2023, ”. The link of the folder of Google drive should be forwarded through email on ieccspnimhans[at]gmail[dot]com (No hard copy of application or DVD/Pen drive is required). #75ReelsforCelebratingIndia Reel- making competition

A Youth Engagement Program to Celebrate Positivity and Patriotism to Promote Culture

To honour 75 years of India's independence as well as the illustrious history of its people, culture, and accomplishments, TERI is implementing a program titled, #75ReelsforCelebratingIndia. The program envisages a Reel- making competition along with hosting a National Youth Forum. The program is being implemented in partnership with Ministry of Culture, Government of India, under the umbrella of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The program aims to provide a learning environment for young people while also recognizing India's distinctive culture through inspirational messages and the display of patriotism in a variety of forms. This program will act as a discussion forum for issues related to creating the India of one's dreams, maximizing India's potential, and positively influencing India's changing environment.

Task: Participants must post and share reels latest by 15 October 2023, by tagging TERI (Facebook, Instagram) and Ministry of Culture (Facebook, Instagram) and using the hashtags- #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, #AKAM, #75, #TERI that best represent the nation's magnificent history of 75 years of independence and its people, culture, and accomplishments. The reel will also recognize India's own culture with uplifting messages and displays of patriotism.

Please note: All submissions should be original thought processes that elicit a positive opinion and drive transformative impact in society.

Theme: One Country, Many Cultures

Who can participate: 15 – 29 years

Recognition: Winners will get monetary awards, certificates, and the opportunity to attend the National Youth Forum along with a felicitation that will take place in Delhi on November 24, 2023, on the eve of ‘Constitution Day’.

Besides these, shortlisted 75 reels glorifying India will be showcased on the day of the Forum which will have representatives under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from Ministry of Culture, Government of India and top 5 reels will be submitted to the Ministry. The 75 reels that will be shortlisted will also be promoted on TERI's website and social media accounts.

In the lead up to and during the Resilience Hub at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) Climate Summit, the Resilience Knowledge Coalition is hosting a video contest on social media. 5. Participant is to make sure that his/her profile is accurate and updated since MyGov will be using this for further communication. This includes details such as name, photo, Students ID and phone number. Entries with incomplete profiles will not be considered. 

6. The participant must be the same person who has conceptualized and shot the Short Film and plagiarism will not be accepted. Strict penal action will be taken against any violation of this clause not limited to disqualification from the competition. 

7. Anyone found infringing on others’ copyright would be disqualified from the competition. Government of India does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property carried out by the participants.

Poster Making 

1. The winning posters would be the intellectual property of the MyGov India and the winners cannot exercise any right over it. The winning posters are meant to be used by the MyGov India for promotional and display purposes, IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials and also for any other as may be deemed appropriate for the initiative. 

2. The winners will be required to carry their posters in person ensuring safe delivery to MyGov at their own responsibility. 

3. The Poster may be in A2 or A3 size on any type of Art paper of the choice of the participants. 

4. The participants will be at liberty to use any type of safe colour material like acrylic, pastel, water etc or a clever mix of all in the painting. 

5. The entry has to be submitted online in JPEG, PDF format. 

6. The poster should be in the language of choice of the participant. 

7. Each individual can submit only one design. 

8. The Posters may be drawn for the purpose of the initial screening and short listing the entries would be received in a pdf format onto www.mygov.in (size: less than 4 mb)

10. In case of use of quotation its source should be properly verified and authenticated and mentioned in the communication
