Children's Mangrove Art Contest 2026 – A Global Opportunity for Young Artists!

Do you enjoy drawing, painting, or creating colourful artwork? Here is an exciting international opportunity to showcase your creativity while raising awareness about one of the world's most valuable ecosystems.

The Mangrove Action Project (MAP) has announced the 26th Annual Children's Mangrove Art Contest 2026, inviting children from around the world to express their ideas about mangroves and coastal conservation through art.

This year's contest celebrates 26 years of inspiring young environmental artists and encourages children to learn about the importance of protecting mangrove forests for future generations.

๐ŸŽจ Contest Themes

Participants may create artwork based on any one or a combination of the following themes:

  • ๐Ÿฆ€ Animals of the Mangroves
  • ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ‘ง‍๐Ÿ‘ฆ People and Communities Living in the Mangrove Forest
  • ๐ŸŒฑ Threats to Mangroves or Solutions for Their Conservation

๐Ÿ“ Reflection Questions

Along with the artwork, participants should answer any one of the following questions in a few sentences:

  1. What have you learned about mangroves?
  2. What are the threats to mangroves today?
  3. How does garbage and marine debris affect mangroves?

๐Ÿ“Œ Competition Guidelines

  • Age Group: 7–16 years
  • Artwork Size: A3 (42 cm × 30 cm / 18 in × 12 in)
  • Orientation: Landscape only (Portrait entries will not be accepted.)
  • Artwork Style: Colourful artwork only. Black-and-white entries are not accepted.
  • Accepted Media: Paint, colour pencils, crayons, pastels, ink, collage, canvas, or paper.
  • One artwork per participant.
  • Digital Art and AI-generated artwork are NOT accepted.

Submit a high-quality scanned image or photograph of the artwork.

  • Minimum 300 dpi
  • Minimum resolution: 3712 × 2784 pixels
  • File format: JPG

๐Ÿ† Awards

Selected winning artworks will:

  • Be featured in the 2027 Mangrove Action Project Art Calendar
  • Be displayed in the online virtual gallery
  • Receive a printed certificate and a complimentary calendar

All participants will receive an e-printable participation certificate to be completed by their teacher, parent, guardian, or local organization.
