Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2026

Registrations Open for the Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2026-27

The Tata Group is inviting bright young minds from classes 6 to 12 across India to participate in the Tata Building India School Essay Competition for the academic year 2026-27

About the Competition
The Tata Building India School Essay Competition is one of the flagship initiatives of the Tata Group, designed to ignite young imaginations and inspire the spirit of nation-building among India’s youth. For over a decade, this competition has provided a meaningful platform for students to channel their thoughts on national and social issues through the power of words.

Since its inception, the competition has reached nearly 30 million students in more than 400 cities and across 10+ languages, encouraging students to think positively and contribute to shaping the nation’s future.

Who Can Participate?
The competition is open to school students in two categories:

  • Junior: Classes 6th – 8th

  • Senior: Classes 9th – 12th

Registrations are free and open to schools across India.

Competition Format
The competition is conducted in two phases:

  1. Inspiration through Films: In the first phase, students watch inspirational short films linked to the Tata Group. These films are carefully chosen to stimulate young minds to reflect on the nation’s progress and their role in it. Students then answer a few questions based on the films.

  2. Essay Writing: In the second phase, students write an essay on a given topic of national significance. This year’s theme centres around building a Self-Reliant India. The exact topic will be shared with students on the day of the competition to encourage fresh thinking and spontaneity.

Evaluation Process
Each student’s essay will be evaluated at three levels:

  • School Level

  • City Level

  • National Level

This multi-level evaluation ensures that exceptional young writers receive recognition at every stage.

Rewards and Recognition
The Tata Building India School Essay Competition celebrates students’ achievements at every level:

  • School-level winners receive certificates, medals, and special Tata Building India merchandise.

  • City-level winners and runners-up are honoured at regional functions and receive online gift vouchers, e-certificates, and e-medals.

  • National-level winners receive significant online gift vouchers, e-certificates, and e-medals. The highlight is an intended visit to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and a face-to-face meeting with a national dignitary — a truly unforgettable experience for young achievers.

Special Recognition for Schools and Teachers
Acknowledging the vital role schools and teachers play in shaping young minds, the competition also includes:

  • Certificates of participation for schools

  • Special mementos for teachers

  • Teaching aids for 100 schools

A Celebration of Young Voices
With every edition, the Tata Building India School Essay Competition continues to build a generation of thoughtful, responsible, and articulate young citizens. It gives students a chance to express their ideas on issues of national importance and encourages them to envision a brighter, self-reliant India.

Schools are encouraged to register their students and help them take part in this meaningful initiative that celebrates creativity, awareness, and the spirit of nation-building.

Registrations are now open — let young voices shape the future!
