Are you a college student with an innovative idea in energy, sustainability, chemicals, technology or emerging areas? QUEST 2026, organised by HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL), invites students to propose original and practical solutions to real-world challenges.
The competition is designed for students to think beyond the classroom and develop ideas with potential applications in industry and society.
๐ฅ Who Can Participate?
QUEST 2026 is open to currently enrolled:
- Undergraduate (UG) students
- Postgraduate (PG) students
- PhD students
Participants must be from a recognised institution, and all student members of a team must belong to the same institute. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged.
Each team must have 2 to 5 members, including one faculty mentor. A maximum of 4 students and 1 faculty mentor can be part of a team.
๐ก Themes
Participants can submit ideas under areas including:
- Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals
- Specialty Chemicals & Pharma KSM/API
- Blue-Sky Innovations
- Decarbonization Technologies
- Bio-Based and Sustainable High-Value Products
The themes cover areas such as AI/ML, digitalisation, advanced materials, hydrogen, carbon capture, renewable energy, water treatment, recycling, biofuels, circular economy and sustainable technologies.
๐ Submission
Teams can submit up to two original ideas. Each idea requires a separate submission.
The initial submission requires a concise 300–350 word abstract. Shortlisted teams will be invited to present their ideas before a jury.
๐ Prizes
The competition offers prizes across its themes:
- 1st Prize: ₹2,00,000 for the top team in each theme
- 2nd Prize: ₹1,00,000 for the next two teams in each theme
- Consolation Prize: ₹25,000 each for the next 10 teams
