Wiki Loves Folklore (WLF) is an annual global media contest hosted on Wikimedia Commons, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the diverse folk cultures from around the world. Building on the success of the 2024 campaign, Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 continues its mission to celebrate and document the richness of global cultural heritage. The competition, which started as Wiki Loves Love in 2018, has grown into a vibrant platform highlighting folk traditions, art, and practices.
Scope of the Contest
This photography contest celebrates the rich tapestry of folk culture worldwide, featuring categories that include:
Folk Festivals: Document seasonal celebrations, calendar customs, and traditional festivals.
Folk Dances and Music: Capture performances of traditional songs and dances.
Folk Activities and Games: Showcase traditional games, sports, and communal activities.
Cuisine and Clothing: Highlight traditional food and folk wear.
Oral Traditions and Mythology: Record ballads, folktales, legends, and other intangible expressions.
Traditional Craftsmanship: Focus on unique craftsmanship, folk art, and museums.
