Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2026: Honouring Exceptional Achievements of Children

The Government of India has invited nominations for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2026, one of the country’s highest civilian honours for children. The award recognizes exceptional achievements of children in various fields and celebrates their courage, talent, innovation, determination, and contribution to society.


The award aims to encourage young achievers who have demonstrated excellence and inspired others through their outstanding accomplishments.

About Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is organized to recognize children who display extraordinary ability, dedication, and achievements in different areas. The award celebrates the spirit, enthusiasm, and potential of India’s youth.

Children selected for the honour receive national recognition for their contributions and achievements that positively impact society.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for PMRBP 2026, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

Citizenship

  • The child must be:
    • An Indian citizen
    • A resident of India

Age Limit

  • The child must be:
    • Above 5 years of age
    • Not exceeding 18 years of age as on 31 July 2026

Achievement Timeline

  • The achievement, act, or contribution should have occurred within two years from the last date of nomination submission.

Awards and Recognition

Selected awardees will receive:

  • Medal
  • Certificate
  • Citation

Number of Awardees

  • Up to 25 children may be selected for the award.
  • The PMRBP Committee may allow relaxation in the number of awardees if required.

Nominations for PMRBP 2026 can be submitted by:

Individuals and Institutions

  • Any individual
  • Educational institutions
  • Organizations

Self-Nomination

  • Children may also apply through self-nomination.

Recommendations from Authorities

Recommendations may additionally be invited from:

  • Central Ministers
  • Chief Ministers
  • Governors
  • Lieutenant Governors
  • Members of Parliament
  • Central and State Government departments
  • District Magistrates and Collectors
  • Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan institutions
  • Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti schools
  • Other educational institutions

Selection Process

PMRBP Committee Review

All nominations will be reviewed by the PMRBP Committee constituted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

The committee:

  • Includes domain experts from various fields
  • Is chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development

Evaluation Standards

The committee evaluates:

  • Exceptional and distinguished achievements
  • Impact on society
  • Excellence beyond routine contributions

Only nominations recommended by the committee are considered for the award.

Final Approval

Recommendations are submitted to the Hon’ble Minister of Women and Child Development for approval.

Award Ceremony Details

Announcement Date

  • Awards will be announced on 26 December 2026 on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas.

Award Presentation

  • The awards will be conferred by the President of India during a special ceremony in New Delhi.

Last Date for Nominations

  • 31 July 2026

Eligible candidates and institutions are encouraged to submit nominations before the deadline.
