International Computer Science Competition (ICSC)

Technology is shaping every part of modern life — from artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to robotics and software development. For students passionate about computer science, the International Computer Science Competition (ICSC) offers an exciting opportunity to learn, compete, and gain global recognition.

Open to students around the world, the ICSC combines education, problem-solving, and friendly competition to challenge participants across multiple areas of computer science.

Whether you are a beginner exploring coding or an advanced student passionate about algorithms and machine learning, the ICSC provides a platform to test your skills and grow.

What Is the ICSC?

The International Computer Science Competition (ICSC) is a global academic competition designed for middle school, high school, and university students.

The competition blends:

  • Computer science education
  • Critical thinking
  • Programming challenges
  • Research-based problem solving
  • Competitive online exams

Unlike traditional exams focused only on coding, the ICSC explores a broad spectrum of computer science topics, helping students develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills.

Who Can Participate?

Students from all countries and educational backgrounds are welcome to join.

The competition is divided into three age groups:

Junior Category

  • Grade 10 and below
  • Under 16 years old

Youth Category

  • Grades 11 to 13
  • Under 19 years old

Senior Category

  • First-year college/university students and above
  • 19 years or older

Participants only need:

  • Curiosity and motivation to learn
  • Access to a computer
  • Pen and paper for solving problems
  • Basic English reading comprehension for research-related tasks

Competition Structure ๐Ÿง

The ICSC consists of three progressively challenging rounds.

1. Qualification Round

This is the first stage of the competition and introduces participants to a wide range of computer science topics.

What to Expect

Participants solve five problems labeled:

  • A
  • B
  • C
  • D
  • E

The topics may include:

  • Theoretical computer science
  • Algorithms
  • Programming
  • Machine learning
  • Logic and problem solving

Each problem is worth 5 points.

Qualification Scores

To advance to the Pre-Final Round, participants must achieve:

  • Junior: 12 points or higher
  • Youth: 14 points or higher
  • Senior: 17 points or higher

All participants receive official participation certificates.

2. Pre-Final Round

Students who qualify move on to a more advanced stage.

Format

  • 60-minute supervised online exam
  • Three challenging problems
  • Includes advanced concepts and research-based tasks

Qualification Scores for Final Round

  • Junior: 14 points or higher
  • Youth: 18 points or higher
  • Senior: 22 points or higher

This round tests not only technical knowledge but also analytical thinking and adaptability.

3. Final Round ๐Ÿ†

The Final Round is a fast-paced online competition completed from home.

Exam Format

  • 30-minute online exam
  • Multiple-choice questions
  • Short-answer questions
  • Coding challenges

Each question typically takes between 1–5 minutes to solve.

Important Rules

  • Correct answers earn 1 point
  • No negative marking for incorrect answers

Final rankings are determined by:

  1. Final Round score
  2. Pre-Final Round score
  3. Qualification Round score

Awards and Recognition ๐ŸŒ

The ICSC offers students the opportunity to gain international recognition for their skills and achievements.

Awards Include

Cash Prizes

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for each age category

National Awards

  • Top performers from each country receive special recognition

Honours

  • Gold Honours
  • Silver Honours
  • Bronze Honours

Special Recognition

  • Outstanding submissions receive Special Honours

Certificates

  • Official participation certificates for all participants

The total prize pool exceeds $1,500 USD .

Why Students Should Participate

The ICSC is more than just a competition — it is a learning experience that prepares students for future careers in technology and innovation.

Participants can:

  • Improve coding and analytical skills
  • Explore advanced computer science topics
  • Build confidence through problem solving
  • Strengthen university applications and portfolios
  • Compete with students from around the world
  • Gain exposure to real-world technological thinking

Because the competition covers both theory and practical application, students gain a deeper understanding of computer science beyond standard classroom learning.

The Best Part? It’s Free ๐ŸŽ‰

There are no registration fees or participation costs for the Qualification Round, making the competition accessible to students worldwide.

This creates an incredible opportunity for motivated learners to challenge themselves regardless of financial background.

Submission Deadline: Sunday, 5 July 2026, 23:59 UTC+0
