To encourage innovation and practical problem-solving in AI, MathWorks has launched the first edition of the MathWorks AI Challenge, inviting students, researchers, and engineers from around the world to develop impactful AI solutions.
The competition offers participants the opportunity to work on real-world AI projects, showcase technical creativity, and compete for prizes of up to $1,000 USD.
About the MathWorks AI Challenge
The challenge focuses on solving problems in the field of Artificial Intelligence through innovative approaches and practical implementations. Participants can select projects from the curated Artificial Intelligence technology trends list available on the challenge project hub.
The event aims to encourage experimentation, open-source collaboration, and real-world application of AI technologies.
How to Participate
The participation process is designed to be straightforward and accessible.
Step 1: Choose a Project
Participants must select a project from the Artificial Intelligence technology trends list available on the challenge hub.
Step 2: Complete the Project Sign-Up Form
A project sign-up form is available through the selected project page. Even participants who have previously signed up can still submit solutions before the deadline.
Step 3: Build and Upload the Solution
Solutions must be uploaded to a GitHub repository under either:
- MIT License
- 2-Clause BSD License
The repository should include:
- Source code
- Documentation
- Models and datasets (if applicable)
- README.md with usage instructions and relevant links
Step 4: Submit Before the Deadline
Participants must submit the GitHub repository link through the official project submission form before the final deadline.

Prize Structure
Top-performing teams will receive cash prizes:

Teams are allowed, but only one designated representative per team will receive the prize if selected as a winner.
