Drop the Oil Challenge Oil free Cooking Challenge for a Healthier India

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, has launched the “Drop the Oil Challenge: Oil-Free Cooking Challenge for a Healthier India.”

The nationwide recipe competition encourages citizens to explore healthy cooking practices by creating innovative oil-free recipes that are nutritious, tasty, and easy to prepare.

The initiative aligns with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of reducing oil consumption and promoting healthier lifestyles to combat obesity and lifestyle-related diseases.

About the Competition

The “Drop the Oil Challenge” focuses on encouraging people to rethink their cooking habits and adopt healthier food preparation methods without using oil.

Participants from across India are invited to submit original oil-free recipes that demonstrate creativity, nutrition, and practicality.

The challenge highlights the importance of:

  • Healthy eating habits
  • Reduced oil consumption
  • Prevention of obesity and lifestyle diseases
  • Innovative home cooking

Objective of the Challenge

The primary objective of the competition is to:

  • Encourage citizens to share innovative oil-less recipes
  • Promote healthier cooking practices
  • Raise awareness about nutrition and balanced diets
  • Inspire healthier lifestyles among families and communities

Submission Requirements

Participants are required to submit their entries in PDF or Word format containing the following details:

Mandatory Information

  1. Name of the recipe
  2. List of ingredients
  3. Step-by-step cooking method
  4. Cooking time
  5. Number of servings
  6. Health benefits of the dish (2–3 points explaining why the recipe is healthy)

Photographs

Participants must also upload:

  • 2 to 3 high-resolution photographs of the final dish
  • Images should be in JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg) format

Important Guidelines

Originality

  • Recipes must be original
  • Plagiarized entries may be disqualified

Profile Details

Participants must provide:

  • Valid phone number
  • Valid email ID

Complete Submission

Incomplete entries may be rejected during evaluation.

Evaluation Criteria

Entries will be evaluated by an expert committee based on the following factors:

1. Health Quotient

Nutritional value and health benefits of the recipe

2. Creativity and Innovation

Uniqueness and originality of the cooking idea

3. Ease of Preparation

Simplicity and practicality of the recipe

4. Presentation

Visual appeal and overall dish presentation

Rewards and Recognition

Certificates

  • E-certificates of appreciation will be awarded by FSSAI to participants.

Gift Hampers and Consolation Prizes

  • Up to 50 entries will receive:
    • Gift hampers
    • Consolation prizes from FSSAI

Winning recipes will be selected by a panel of experts.
