The Olympiad encourages students to develop analytical thinking and technical skills while exploring real-world cybersecurity concepts in a structured and engaging learning environment.

The International Junior Cybersecurity Olympiad (IJCO) is an academic competition focused on:

Who Can Participate?

The NJCO/IJCO is open to:

  • Students from Grade 8 to Grade 12
  • First and second-year undergraduate students

Although all participants attempt the same course and examination, rankings and awards are classified separately within each grade level.

One of the key highlights of the Olympiad is its structured learning support.

The NJCO course includes:

  • 4 pre-recorded online video lessons
  • 2 hours per lesson
  • Total of 8 hours of learning content

The course has been specially designed for high school and university students by:

  • National Cybersecurity R&D Lab (NCL)
  • Centre for Nurturing Computing Excellence (CeNCE)
  • Hosted at the School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS)

Examination Pattern

The NJCO contest is conducted after completion of the workshop and learning sessions.

Exam Structure

  • 40 Multiple Choice Questions
  • Questions divided equally among syllabus topics
  • 10 questions from each topic

Scoring System

  • Correct Answer: 2.5 points
  • Wrong Answer: 0 points
  • No Negative Marking

The competition emphasizes understanding, logical thinking, and cybersecurity awareness rather than memorization.

The awards follow the classification criteria used by CeNCE and the National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) .
