Competition Categories

1. Art | Photography
- Photography is a powerful tool for storytelling, and in the GENIUS Art Olympiad, it is used to raise awareness about environmental issues.
- Students can submit photojournalistic, documentary, experimental, or expressive photographs that highlight various environmental themes such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and the impact of human activities on nature.
- Emotional Impact: Photography should aim to evoke an emotional response from the viewer, whether through images of destruction, hope, or transformation in the environment.

2. Art | Poster Design
- A poster is a dynamic and visually engaging way to communicate important messages to the public, and in this category, students will design posters that inspire action regarding environmental issues.
- Posters can be created in any medium, including digital, painting, or pencil, but at least 90% of the work must be done by the student artist.
- The poster should aim to educate, motivate, and provoke thought on topics such as waste management, water conservation, air pollution, global warming, and more.

3. Art | Mixed Media
- Mixed Media art allows students to combine a variety of materials, textures, and techniques to create unique, three-dimensional works of art. This category encourages creativity and innovation in expressing environmental issues.
- Students are encouraged to use recycled materials (such as paper, fabric, or cans) and found objects to create their artwork, making the medium itself part of the environmental message.
- 3D Artwork: The final piece should not exceed 8 inches (20 cm) in depth, and students must ensure the artwork is strong and durable enough for display.

GENIUS Art Olympiad: Application Rules
To apply for the GENIUS Art Olympiad, students must follow the guidelines outlined below:
Eligibility:
- Art projects can be prepared and submitted by one student only.
Artwork Size:
- The artwork must be 18x24 inches in size (portrait or landscape orientation).
Submission Requirements:
- Artwork: You must upload a high-quality image of your artwork in JPEG format with a file size under 5 MB.
- Artist Statement: An optional one-page artist statement is recommended, describing how your artwork connects to environmental issues. The statement should be written in English and explain the environmental relevance of your piece.
- File Naming: Use English characters for your project file name, ensuring the file name is under 25 characters.
- By submitting: You grant GENIUS Olympiad the right to use your artwork for promotional and educational purposes.

- Submit your artwork through the official GENIUS Olympiad application system. Ensure you meet all submission requirements to ensure your project is considered for the competition.
What to Expect at the Fair
At the GENIUS Art Olympiad, students will present their works to a global audience of judges and attendees. Here’s what you can expect at the fair:
- Artwork Display: Your printed artwork (poster art and photography) will be displayed on a black foam board (22x28 inches).
- Improvements: Students are allowed to make improvements to their projects between the application deadline and the fair presentation.
- Interaction with Judges: Judges may ask questions about your artwork, its composition, and its message. Be prepared to discuss how you designed and created the piece.
- Supervisors: Supervisors are not allowed in the judging area during the evaluation process.
- Only students who participate in the competition will be recognized with awards if the project wins.
GENIUS Art Olympiad: Judging Criteria
Judges will evaluate each project based on the following criteria:
- Creativity: Does the artwork demonstrate originality and a fresh approach to the theme?
- Composition: Is there a visual balance between the elements in the piece, whether static or dynamic?
- Expression of Meaning: How well does the project communicate its environmental message to the viewer?
