PROMYS India 2025, a six-week residential mathematics summer programme, invites you to embark on an enriching mathematical journey. This prestigious programme, hosted at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, offers a rigorous and immersive learning experience for young mathematicians from across India.

What is PROMYS India? PROMYS India is modeled on the Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS) at Boston University, which has been inspiring students since 1989. PROMYS India brings together exceptional students to explore and expand their mathematical horizons in a supportive community of peers, counsellors, and faculty.

Programme Highlights:

• Dates: 11 May to 21 June 2025

• Location: Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru

• Eligibility: Students in Standards IX to XII (or equivalent), aged 15–18 years

• Scholarships: Full scholarships covering tuition, hostel, and meals for all participants. Additional need-based funding is available for travel and laundry expenses.

  • Students must have completed Standard IX and be attending secondary or higher secondary school in India.

  • Applicants should be proficient in English to participate fully in the programme.

  • Students may apply to only one programme: PROMYS India or PROMYS at Boston University.

• Four Required Components:

  1. Application Problem Set: Solve challenging problems that require deep thought and creativity. Include rough work for consideration.

  2. School Report Cards: Submit transcripts from Standard IX and above.

  3. Online Application Form: Answer questions and upload required documents.

  4. Teacher Recommendation: A mathematics teacher or mentor must submit a recommendation form.

Admissions Criteria: Applications are assessed holistically based on:

• Solutions to the application problems.

• Teacher’s recommendation.

• School report cards.

A Learning Journey Inspired by the Gita

In this flagship initiative, children from Class 2 to Class 7 are invited to participate in a series of engaging rounds that will help them understand the deep wisdom of the Gita. The competition is designed to be both educational and fun, with easy-to-follow learning methods that encourage curiosity and promote intellectual growth.

The judges for this prestigious program include esteemed individuals such as Prof. Ankur Barua from the University of Cambridge and Mr. Rajesh Mittal, the Editor of Navbharat Times.

No Registration Fee, Free Learning Resources

The best part about the Gita Scholars initiative is that there is no fee to participate. Children can sign up for free and gain access to valuable learning materials, including a free Gita class and story videos. These resources are designed to simplify the teachings of the Gita, making them easy to understand for young minds.

The Exciting Rounds

The competition will unfold in three rounds:

• Round 1: Students will write an essay, story, or poem on a given topic related to the Bhagavad Gita. The submissions will be on an A4 sheet.
• Round 2: Participants will attend a virtual Gita class, followed by a Q&A session at the end of January 2025.
• Round 3: Shortlisted students will take part in a group discussion in the presence of the esteemed judges.

Recognition and Prizes

All participants will receive a certificate for their efforts, and there are exciting prizes up for grabs! Cash prizes and books will be awarded to the top winners. A total of 200 books will be distributed, and the most outstanding participants will earn prestigious recognition as Gita Scholars.

The winners will be announced on February 2nd, 2025, marking the culmination of this incredible journey into the wisdom of the Gita.
