ONLINE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2021

CHESS KERALA is organizing this event for all school students in our state with the cooperation of Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA).

T K Joseph was a renowned State Chess Champion and chess author. His family is sponsoring the event.

Chess the brain game which is a scientifically proven educational tool. The objective is to propagate chess among all school students of Kerala and provide opportunities to compete and grow.

Rs. 60,000/. worth trophies and cash prizes

The Tharappel family is sponsoring prizes worth Rs. 60,000, including cash prizes and trophies for the largest online chess tournament in Kerala for school children.

Exclusively for school students

Students of all schools in Kerala are eligible to play in this Tournament[State, CBSE, ICSE, Central etc.].

6 separate categories from LKG to Plus 2 are there. Girls and boys have separate competitions.

Category 2 Boys: LKG to 4th

Category 3 Girls: 5th to 8th

District Level Championships(Qualifying tournaments

14 District Level Championships will be held. Students have to compete in their respective districts. Qualifiers from the districts will compete in the State Level Grand Finals.

Selection for the State Level

The top 3 finishers in each category will qualified to participate in state competitions. Selection for 18 players in 6 categories from 1 district.

State Level Championship (Grand Finals)

Top 3 winners from the 6 categories will qualify for the Grand Finals.

Total Qualifiers for the Grand Finals will be 3 x 6 x 14 = 252 players.

Prizes for the District level championship

The top 3 winners in all categories will be awarded trophy and certificate. The certificate will be awarded to the top 10 players.

Champion School Trophy

Special trophy will be presented to the school that performs best overall in district competitions. The Champion School is selected based on first, second and third place achievements in each category.The value is calculated as 5 for the first position, 3 for the second position and 1 for the third position. If there comes tie, the tournament score of the first three players will be considered.

Prizes for the State winners : Cash Prize + Trophy + Certificate

In the state level competitions, the champion will get Rs.1000 + Trophy. For the second place in each category Rs. 750 + Trophy and the third place will be awarded Rs. 500 + Trophy. In addition, certificates will be awarded to the top 10.

The Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India is arranging a series of Webinars under the over all theme of ‘Dekho Apna Desh’. Recognising the fact that revival in the tourism sector will be largely spearheaded by Domestic Tourism, the Ministry is focusing on the promotion of Domestic Tourism.

The objective of these Webinars is to promote various tourism destinations of India – including the lesser known destinations and lesser known facets of popular destinations. The Webinars include glimpses of the culture, heritage, handicrafts and cuisine of the destinations, in addition to the tourist spots. Concepts of Responsible Tourism, Accessible Tourism, Wildlife, Trekking, Bicycling and Motor Cycle Tours, etc. have also been promoted through the Webinars. They are an attempt to present an undiscovered India to its citizens and encourage them to travel. A repository of all the Webinars is being maintained by the Ministry and YouTube links to the Webinars are made available on the Incredible India Social Media handles of the Ministry of Tourism.

The webinars have been well received with participants including the travel industry stakeholders, students as well as the general public. The webinars have had a total viewership of over 200,000 and have seen participation from more than 60 countries across the world.

To acknowledge and felicitate the participants the Ministry of Tourism is running the quiz focussing on each episode. Each participant of the quiz shall be rewarded with an e-certificate.

Social Media Video Contest for COP26 Resilience Hub

What are your resilience solutions to tackle the effects of climate change?

In the lead up to and during the Resilience Hub at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) Climate Summit, the Resilience Knowledge Coalition is hosting a video contest on social media. The contest will run on social media from 23 October to 12 November.  The contest is targeted at young people and is open to anyone who is under 30 years old. 

About the contest:

The Idea: Social media provides a great opportunity to engage already digitally connected young people. The contest will capture Audio-Visual content from young people who will post submissions on Instagram with specific tags (see below). The winning entries will be showcased on the Global Resilience Partnership’s social media channels, and if applicable during the Resilience Hub’s “Windows on Resilience..
