The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), in collaboration with MyGov, has announced a national-level essay competition to commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives 2025. The initiative invites Indian citizens to express their views on the evolving and expanding role of cooperatives in contemporary society under the theme: “Increasing Significance of Cooperatives in Changing Times.”
This competition serves as an important platform to promote awareness and generate discourse around the pivotal role that cooperative institutions play in sustainable and inclusive development. With the global socio-economic landscape undergoing rapid transformation, cooperatives are increasingly emerging as resilient, community-driven models capable of addressing various developmental challenges.
Objectives of the Essay Competition
The competition is being organized with three primary objectives:

To create awareness about the essential contribution of cooperatives towards sustainable development and social inclusion.

To encourage innovative ideas from citizens that can help in strengthening and modernizing the cooperative movement in India.

To engage youth and the general public in policy-level discussions and reflections on the future role of cooperatives.

Essay Topic (Hindi): “बदलते समय में सहकारी संस्थाओं का बढ़ता महत्व”
Participants have the flexibility to write in either English or Hindi, based on their preference.
Eligibility Criteria

Open to all Indian citizens.

Essays should be written in either Hindi or English.

Word Limit: Maximum 1500 words (a grace of 50 words is allowed).

Mode of Submission: Online via the MyGov platform.

Last Date for Submission: 25th October 2025.
Awards and Recognition
Winners will be selected based on the originality, clarity, relevance, and impact of their ideas. The prizes are as follows:
Winner Prizes:

1st Prize: ₹15,000
-
2nd Prize: ₹10,000
-
3rd Prize: ₹5,000
Consolation Prizes:

Three Consolation Prizes of ₹2,000 each
In addition to the above, Certificates of Appreciation will be awarded to the next top 10 shortlisted participants, recognizing their valuable contributions.
