International Art Contest for Students - Never Such Innocence

ever Such Innocence (NSI) is excited to invite young artists from around the world to participate in the 2024/25 Art Competition, a part of the third edition of the programme "Conversations on Conflict." This year’s powerful theme is How Can We Prevent Future Wars? Participants are encouraged to reflect on how individuals, communities, and nations can work together to prevent wars, learn from history, and offer advice to leaders.

This competition provides a platform for young creatives to express their ideas through various forms of art. Whether it’s a painting, sketch, sculpture, photo, or digital medium, NSI encourages artists to share their unique perspectives on the theme.

Key Details of the Competition:

  • Theme: How Can We Prevent Future Wars?
  • Age Categories:
    • Age 9-11
    • Age 11-14
    • Age 14-16
    • Age 16-18
The crossover of ages ensures fairness, allowing children in the same school year to compete equally. Categorisation is at NSI’s discretion based on the information provided in the entry form.

Art Guidelines:

  • Title: Every piece of artwork must have a title.
  • Form: All forms of artwork are accepted, including:
    • Sculptures and models
    • Paintings and sketches
    • Photography
    • Digital media
Artwork can be created using watercolours, pastels, charcoals, pencils, acrylics, crayons, oil paints, paper cuttings, or photography. The medium is entirely up to the artist’s preference.
  • Originality: The artwork must be the participant's own original work and should not infringe upon any copyrights or the rights of third parties. Artwork created using AI will not be accepted.
  • Submission: Artists should submit a high-quality photograph or scan of their artwork. NSI may request to see the original works after the initial shortlisting.

Submission Process:

  • Entry Fee: There is no entry fee to participate.
  • Multiple Entries: Participants may submit work to more than one category (for example, one piece of art and one poem), but only one entry per category is allowed.
  • Judging: To ensure fairness, all submissions will be anonymised with a unique entry number. Only the title should appear on the entry, while all other details should be provided on the entry form.

Timeline:

  • Competition Opens: 20th September 2024
  • Competition Deadline: 28th February 2025
  • Winners Notified By: 1st May 2025

For entrants aged 15 and under, submissions must be made by an adult (such as a parent, guardian, or teacher) on behalf of the participant. Adults submitting entries will need to agree to the competition rules by checking a box on the online or physical entry form.

This competition is an exciting opportunity for young artists to have their voices heard on the global stage, using the medium of art to reflect on the crucial question of how we can prevent future wars. With no entry fee, participants from all over the world are encouraged to showcase their creativity and engage in this important conversation.
