Art Journal Foundation Natya 2025 Theatre Competition

Natya is an annual theatre competition organised by the Art Journal Foundation (AJF) that celebrates the art of storytelling, performance, and expression. It aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and enthusiasm among young scholars, offering them a platform to showcase their talent in theatre.

The Art Journal Foundation, an initiative of Elevating Arts Private Limited, supports the process, practice, and education in Arts and Culture. By creating such platforms, AJF seeks to enhance creativity, inspire critical investigations, and provide opportunities for exploration and experimentation in the arts. With this vision, AJF aspires to be the premier destination for young artists to immerse themselves in the creative process and develop their skills.

Theme for 2025: Disconnected in a Connected World

We live in a time when technology, social media, and communication tools make us more connected than ever before. Yet, paradoxically, many people feel isolated, unheard, or unseen.

This year’s theme invites participants to explore this contrast.

  • What does it mean to be connected yet feel disconnected?

  • Is it the loneliness behind constant notifications?

  • Is it about being surrounded by people but still feeling invisible?

  • Or could it be about rediscovering real human connections in the digital age?

Through theatre, participants are encouraged to bring these questions to life, expressing the emotions and stories hidden in this modern paradox.
