Kerala Forest Department Wildlife Photography Contest- 2024

As part of the Wildlife Week Celebrations 2024, the Kerala Forest Department (KFD) is thrilled to announce the Wildlife Photography Contest 2024! This is a fantastic opportunity for photographers of all levels to showcase their skills and capture the beauty of nature and wildlife in Kerala.

Contest Details

Eligibility:
Open to all Indian citizens, regardless of age. Employees and immediate family members of KFD are not eligible to participate.

Contest Period:
Entries will be accepted from September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. IST to September 30, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. IST. Late submissions will not be accepted.

How to Participate:

  • Entry Fee: None.
  • Submission Method: Submit your entries online through the official KFD website: www.forest.kerala.gov.in.
  • Theme: Nature and Wildlife in Kerala.
  • Entry Limit: A maximum of five entries per participant.

Technical Specifications

  • Format: Photographs must be taken in RAW format and submitted in JPEG format.
  • Size & Resolution: JPEGs should be saved at a high-quality setting of at least 8, with dimensions of 1920 pixels on the longest side.
  • Ethical Guidelines: Photographs must represent the natural world truthfully and ethically. Manipulation that alters the truthfulness of the original image is prohibited.

Judging and Prizes

  • Selection: Entries will be evaluated by a panel of eminent judges with expertise in wildlife photography. Winners will be notified on October 4, 2024.
  • Prizes:
    • 1st Prize: ₹20,000 and Certificate of Recognition
    • 2nd Prize: ₹10,000 and Certificate of Recognition
    • 3rd Prize: ₹6,000 and Certificate of Recognition
    • Certificates of Merit will be awarded to ten additional entries.

Important Notes

  • All submissions must comply with the outlined technical specifications and ethical guidelines. Any disqualifying behavior, such as using live bait or causing harm to wildlife, will result in disqualification and potential legal action.
  • The decision of the Chief Wildlife Warden, Kerala, is final.
