The National Book Trust, India, has announced the Joy of Reading Photo Contest, a one-of-its-kind national initiative celebrating the deep and universal love for reading. Launched as part of the Pune Book Festival, scheduled from 13 to 21 December 2025, this contest invites photography enthusiasts from across the country to portray the essence and impact of reading through powerful visual storytelling.
This event aims to highlight how books enrich lives, spark imagination, nurture ideas, and strengthen the connection between readers and the world around them. Participants are encouraged to capture candid, creative moments that reflect the transformative power of reading.
A Celebration of Creativity and Culture
Winning entries will receive more than appreciation. The selected photographs will be displayed on a large wall at Fergusson College Grounds from 18 to 21 December 2025 during the festival. They will also be showcased at the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2026 and published in a special Coffee Table Book by NBT-India, paying tribute to the culture of reading in India.
This initiative is designed not just as a competition but as a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the timeless joy of reading.
