"15 August, also known as Independence Day", is a very significant day for all the Indians. It's the day when we remember the sacrifices of all the freedom fighters because of whom we got independence.
However, in spite of being a free nation, the true meaning of Independence is lost somewhere.
A girl cannot go out in the night because of the fear of getting harassed or even worse, getting raped; A child is forced to work whereas she should be headed to school; A country that gave birth to Rani Laxmi Bai, Bachendri Pal, Sarojini Naidu sees female foeticide cases each day; Many children are devoid of proper education; Basic healthcare is still inaccessible to a large mass, and the list goes on.
That raises the question - Are we truly independent?
