RAINFOREST KIDS CHALLENGE

The aim for launching the first-ever Rainforest Kids Challenge is to educate the children about the importance of the standing rainforests and encourage them to be part of a community that cares about the rainforests and takes action to restore them for a better world.

The Rainforest Kids Challenge is open for all children and teenagers who are committed to practical actions in order to save and protect our forests which are at risk due to climate change and widespread devastation of the ecology. Any group of students may take part in the challenge even if they don't have direct access to a forest in their territory, as long as they are mobilized to act on any problem that has a direct or indirect impact on the forest.

For example, actions from one's home, community or neighbourhood can make people aware of the importance of changing habits to reduce carbon emission, thereby contributing to saving our most precious natural lungs- the rainforests.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, groups must respect the recommendations of health authorities and comply with social distance norms to carry out any of the actions involved in this contest in their country.

ELIGIBILITY
Any child from any country in the world can participate in this challenge if they have had some interaction with rainforests or any local flora and fauna. Preferably children from 8 to 18 years old.
It is open to all children who are committed to climate action. A simple action from one's home, community or neighbourhood can reduce the carbon footprint, thereby saving our most precious natural lungs.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE ?

01 A TEAM WITH THE I CAN MINDSET
All you need is a team of students and an educator (who must be an adult) with the I CAN spirit.

The students’ age should preferably range from 8 to 18.

02 USE THE FIDS FRAMEWORK
To participate, each team needs to follow the Design for Change FIDS framework (Feel, Imagine, Do, and Share) to come up with solutions to what they think are the rainforest’s greatest challenges.

03 REGISTER & SUBMIT ONLINE
Each team needs to register and submit their project to the Rainforest Challenge platform, along with a video explaining their idea.

The submission of the project will require a teacher or an adult to upload in the platform. Subsequently information will be communicated to the same contact person.

The Design for Change stories are judged based on the following variables:

Easy to replicate | Innovative | Subject to technological development | Scalable | Sustainable | FIDS framework

4 WINNING SOLUTIONS WILL GET A CHANCE TO WIN PRIZES WORTH 2000 USD PER PROJECT.

Submit your story by 30th September 2021.
