Wingword Poetry Competition is looking for those persons who have a unique style of expression and an unexplored perspective to offer to the world. Wingword accept poems on a variety of themes such as love, heartbreak, family, childhood, society, nature and history. It’s your imagination; let it run wild!

Regional Languages Category
Persons who write in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malyalam, Tamil, Odia and Gujarati are welcome to enter the Regional Languages Poetry Competition. The prizes in this category are as follows:
First prize is ₹ 30,000, second prize ₹ 20,000 and third prize ₹ 15,000. The top 10 winners receive ₹ 7,500 each. Winners will be published in Wingword’s annual anthology.
Submit Your Poems for Wingword Poetry Competition
Entry Fee is ₹ 1000 for one poem, ₹ 2000 for three poems and ₹ 3000 to submit five poems.
Wingword Poetry Competition Rules
The competition is open to anyone who is 14 years old and above.
You must be an Indian national or a person of Indian origin to enter the competition.
Poem must be originally written by you.
Any topic and style of poetry is accepted.
Poem should be no longer than 60 lines.
Your writing can be in any of the following languages: English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malyalam, Tamil, Odia or Gujarati.
Previously published poems are allowed.
We encourage beginners to participate. Your writing speaks for itself- if it’s meritorious, your work will be selected!
Entry Fee is INR 500 for one poem, INR 1000 for three poems and INR 1500 for five poems.
You are allowed to submit as many poems as you like by paying the respective entry fee.
Final deadline is July 31st 2022, Sunday at 11.59 PM IST.
Award Ceremony
An award ceremony will be held to crown the winners and commemorate the work of all finalists. Winners will be invited to attend the function. The three prize-winners in each category will be asked to read out their poems publicly. It will comprise a specially designed poetry workshop with a distinguished international educator. The poets will have the opportunity to further train in enhancing their poetry writing skills.
Wingword’s prize giving event will take place in New Delhi, India.
