Essay Writing Competition 2025 for School and College Students

In celebration of World Intellectual Property Day 2025, IP4Kids, a widely respected initiative by S.S. Rana & Co., invites students across schools and colleges to participate in three exciting national-level competitions. The aim is to encourage young minds to explore the importance of copyright protection in music, creativity, and innovation.


These competitions provide a platform for students to creatively express their ideas on how copyright law affects the music industry and how respecting these rights fosters a more innovative and fair creative landscape.

Competitions Open for Entry

  1. Script It! – Essay Writing Competition

  2. Comic Strip Making Competition

  3. Creative Reel Making Competition

Each competition is centered around thought-provoking themes designed to make participants reflect on the challenges and opportunities within the music and copyright ecosystem.


Topics and Prompts

Essay Writing Topics (1200–1500 words)

  1. How Can Young Musicians Protect Their Songs?

  2. How Does Music Piracy Harm Singers and Musicians?

  3. Can Computers Make Music? Who Owns AI Music?

  4. Should Traditional and Folk Music Be Free for Everyone?

  5. How Do Music Apps Like Spotify and YouTube Help Artists?

Prompts for Comic Strip & Reel Making Competitions

  1. Many people download songs for free. Is this fair to the people who made the music?

  2. Some artists take parts of old songs to create new ones. When is this allowed, and when is it wrong?

  3. Today, computers can compose songs. Who should own these songs—owner of the computer or no one?

  4. Sometimes, songs get deleted from videos because of copyright. Is this fair to musicians and video creators?

  5. If a student writes a song, how can they make sure no one steals it? What steps should they take?


General Guidelines

  • Eligibility: Open to school and college students in India.

  • Originality: All submissions must be original, not AI-generated, and must strictly avoid plagiarism or copying.

  • Language: Submissions accepted in English or Hindi only.

  • Single entry per competition per participant is allowed. However, students may participate in multiple competitions.


Format-Specific Rules

Essay Writing Competition

  • Word limit: 1200 to 1500 words

  • Must be typed and submitted as a document attachment

Comic Strip Making

  • Must be between 4 to 8 panels (pages)

  • Formats: Hand-drawn, digital illustrations, or mixed media allowed

Creative Reel Making

  • Duration: 1 to 2 minutes

  • Format can include:
    – A short skit
    – A story
    – A dance or musical performance
    – An educational message


Submission Process

  • All entries must be sent via email only to: info@ip4kids.in

  • Deadline for submission: April 22, 2025

  • Subject line of the email: “World Intellectual Property Day, 2025

  • Entries must include the following details both in the body of the email and within the file:

    • Name of the Participant

    • Name and Postal Address of School/College

    • Class/Year of Study

    • Participant’s Contact Number and Postal Address

Note: Incomplete submissions or missing participant information will lead to disqualification.


Judging and Results

  • A panel of qualified judges and experts from IP4Kids and S.S. Rana & Co. will evaluate the entries.

  • Top 3 winners from each category will be selected.

  • Results will be announced on or before April 26, 2025 on the official website: https://www.ip4kids.in and their social media platforms.


Awards and Recognition

  • Top three winners in each category will receive exciting gifts and Certificates of Merit.

  • All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
