The International Abacus Olympiad 2026 is an exciting international mathematics competition designed for children who want to explore the world of mental math and abacus learning. Who Can Participate?

The Olympiad is open to young mathematicians aged 5 to 14 years. Participants will compete in different categories based on their age group.

Age Categories

Category A: Ages 5 to 7
Category B: Ages 8 to 10
Category C: Ages 11 to 13

These categories ensure that students compete with peers of similar age and learning levels.


Exam Dates

Participants can choose any one of the following exam dates:

  • The exam will be available for 24 hours on the selected date.

Registration Process

There are two ways to register for the International Abacus Olympiad 2026.

Individual Registration

Participants can register online by visiting the official website and filling out the registration form.

Bulk Registration

Schools or institutions can register multiple students by sending an Excel file with the following details:

  • Student name

  • Category

  • Level

  • Exam date

The file should be sent via email to the official registration email address.


Registration Deadlines

Students must complete registration before the following deadlines:

  • 10 May 2026 for the 15 May 2026 exam

  • 25 May 2026 for the 31 May 2026 exam

Early registration is recommended to avoid last-minute issues.


Mock Exam

Mock tests will be available to help students prepare before the main exam.

Mock Test Periods

  • 1 May – 15 May 2026

  • 15 May – 30 May 2026

Mock exams allow students to familiarize themselves with the exam format and improve their confidence.


Exam Levels and Question Pattern

The Olympiad includes multiple levels designed for students with different levels of abacus learning experience.

Level 0 – Mental Math

This level is designed for students who prefer solving problems without using an abacus tool.

  • 1 digit, 3 rows to 1 digit, 5 rows

  • Addition and subtraction


Level 1 – Beginners

This level is for students who want to use the abacus tool but have not yet completed all abacus formulas.

Features include:

  • No complements

  • No big friends or small friends methods

  • No carry forward or borrowing

Question Pattern:

  • 1 digit, 3 rows to 1 digit, 5 rows

  • Addition and subtraction

Level 2 & 3 – Intermediate

These levels are suitable for students who have completed 34 abacus formulas.

Question Pattern:

  • 1 digit, 5 rows to 2 digits, 3 rows

  • Addition and subtraction

Level 4 & 5 – Advanced

Advanced levels challenge students with more complex calculations.

Question Pattern includes:

  • 2 digits, 3 rows to 2 digits, 5 rows

  • 2-digit multiplication by 1 digit

  • Division of 2 or 3 digits by 1 digit
