Established over 24 years ago, the KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD has a rich history of identifying and supporting exceptional product designs. This prestigious award not only recognizes outstanding designs but also transforms them into commercial products through co-creation with KOKUYO developers. With more than 20 products created to date, the award continues to evolve, reflecting contemporary values and pushing the boundaries of design.
Theme for 2025: Prototype for the Future
The theme for the KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD 2025 is "Prototype for the Future." This year's competition emphasizes the importance of prototyping—designing original ideas that have the potential to inspire and lead to groundbreaking developments. We are looking for designs that challenge conventional thinking and pave the way for future innovations. Whether it’s a revolutionary stationery item, furniture, or a tool used in working, learning, or living environments, your prototype could be the next big thing.
Eligibility and Entry Details
- Eligible Entries: The competition is open to any stationery, furniture, or tool used in various environments.
- Eligibility: Open to individuals, corporations, or groups from all over the world, regardless of age, sex, or nationality. If you are a minor, you will need parental or statutory consent.
- Number of Submissions: Unlimited. Entries must be designs that have never been publicly shown.
- Presentation Requirement: Entrants must be able to present their designs at the final judging on March 22, 2025. KOKUYO will cover travel and lodging expenses for up to two individuals per group entry.
Prizes
- Grand Prix: ¥2,000,000
- Merit Award: ¥500,000
Additionally, the NEW GENERATION AWARD will be given to outstanding entries from students (elementary to graduate school), chosen for their potential to impact the future.
