Architecture at Zero is an international competition that invites students and professionals from architecture, design, engineering, and planning to address critical issues of decarbonization, equity, and resilience through sustainable design.
2024 Competition Challenge:
The 2024 challenge focuses on designing a new building for the Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School in East Los Angeles (East LA), California. The building will replace relocatable classrooms and include facilities such as:
- Science labs
- Art classrooms
- Maker spaces
- Outdoor learning environments
- Teacher workroom
This is an ideas competition, meaning that the project is hypothetical and not intended for actual construction.

- Submission Deadline: December 16, 2024
- Prize Pool: Up to $25,000 for both professional and student entries
