Hospitals and healthcare facilities are sanctuaries of healing. But what happens when these very places of safety are threatened by fire? Fire accidents in hospitals not only risk valuable infrastructure but, more importantly, endanger the lives of patients, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
To address this crucial issue, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is launching a ‘Fire Safety Week’ from 21st to 25th April 2025, dedicated to raising awareness about fire safety in health institutions. As part of this initiative, the Ministry, in collaboration with MyGov, is hosting an engaging Quiz Competition to promote fire prevention, preparedness, and response knowledge among the public.
Why This Matters
Disasters can strike without warning. When hospitals are affected, the consequences can be dire. Ensuring these facilities are equipped to prevent and respond to fires is not just a regulatory requirement—it’s a shared responsibility.
This quiz aims to:
-
Create awareness about simple, practical fire prevention strategies.
-
Educate participants on firefighting tools and emergency protocols.
-
Encourage collective responsibility for maintaining safe and secure healthcare environments.
