Unlocking Women's Potential in Tech: Flipkart’s 6.0 Initiative

In a world where tech innovation is driving industries forward, there is an urgent need to ensure that women are equally represented in the workforce. Women in technology remain an underrepresented group, and Flipkart is taking a bold step towards bridging this gap through its flagship initiative, Girls Wanna Code (GWC). Launched in 2018, GWC aims to empower women in tech by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and mentorship they need to excel in one of the most rapidly evolving industries. Now, as Flipkart gears up for the sixth edition of this transformative program, Girls Wanna Code 6.0 promises to offer even greater opportunities for women to shape the future of technology in India.

Why Girls Wanna Code 6.0 Matters

The tech landscape in India is evolving at a remarkable pace. However, despite the incredible growth, women remain significantly underrepresented in tech roles. This gender disparity not only limits the diversity of ideas but also reduces the opportunities for women to contribute to technological innovation. Girls Wanna Code seeks to change that by offering women from select women-only tech campuses across India a chance to unlock their potential and take their first steps toward a rewarding career in technology.

Through this unique initiative, Flipkart is not only focusing on upskilling women but also providing them with exposure to industry experts, mentorship from experienced leaders, and real-world problem-solving opportunities. The program is designed to give young women the tools to succeed, whether they’re pursuing internships or full-time software development roles.

The Program: A Roadmap to Success

Girls Wanna Code 6.0 is a four-stage program aimed at nurturing women’s technical skills while fostering leadership and problem-solving abilities. Let’s take a closer look at the structure and benefits of the program:

Stage 1: Online Coding Challenge

The journey begins with an online coding challenge. Participants will register for the challenge on the Unstop platform and take part in a 90-minute test. This round assesses their basic coding skills and provides an opportunity to qualify for the next stage based on their performance. It’s the first step towards filtering out candidates who have the potential to thrive in the program.

Stage 2: GWC Learning Cohorts

Once selected, participants will become a part of a cohort and gain access to an immersive learning program led by Flipkart’s top technical experts. This learning phase consists of four comprehensive modules designed to equip participants with industry-relevant skills. Each module is followed by an online test to evaluate their understanding. With expert mentors from Flipkart providing guidance throughout the program, students will be able to work on real-life problem statements, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in the tech industry.

Stage 3: Final Evaluation

At the end of the learning journey, a final evaluation will assess how well participants have internalized the knowledge gained during the program. This stage ensures that only the most committed and well-prepared candidates are considered for Flipkart’s recruitment process.

Stage 4: Headquarters Immersion for Top 30 Performers

The top 30 performers in the program will be invited to Flipkart’s headquarters in Bangalore. This immersive experience will provide them with exclusive exposure to the company’s leadership and the opportunity to network with peers and industry experts. This visit also includes the possibility of a direct interview for software development roles, both for internships and full-time positions. This phase provides a direct gateway to high-impact opportunities at Flipkart, with some of the best minds in the industry.

Rewards and Opportunities

One of the biggest draws of Girls Wanna Code 6.0 is the unparalleled opportunity for Pre-Placement Interviews (PPIs) with Flipkart, which is offering a lucrative stipend and CTC for both internship and full-time roles:

  • Stipend: ₹1 lakh per month
  • CTC: ₹32.67 LPA

In addition to the financial rewards, participants will have the chance to work on industry-relevant projects and gain invaluable insights from experts in the field. They will receive personalized mentorship from Flipkart’s subject matter experts (SMEs), participate in application-based learning, and have access to self-paced assignments.

Furthermore, Flipkart will reward top performers with exclusive goodies and an invitation to visit their Bangalore headquarters, an experience that few can match.

Who Can Participate?

Girls Wanna Code 6.0 is open to female engineering students in the 3rd and 4th years of their B.Tech./B.E. degrees or all years of their M.Tech./M.E. degrees. The program is specifically tailored for students from women-only colleges across India, ensuring that the focus remains on empowering women from underrepresented educational backgrounds. While the program is open to students from all specializations and domains, the skills acquired during the program will be applicable to a wide range of roles in the tech industry.

Why Join Girls Wanna Code?

By participating in Girls Wanna Code 6.0, students can expect:

  • Industry-relevant training and skills development through real-world coding problems.
  • Exclusive mentorship from Flipkart SMEs to guide participants through the learning journey.
  • Increased visibility with Flipkart and other top companies in the tech industry.
  • Networking opportunities with peers and professionals from across the country.
  • Direct access to recruitment opportunities at Flipkart through PPIs for internships and full-time roles.

Are you passionate about the ocean and its creatures? Do you have a knack for creating stunning artwork that can raise awareness? The 2025 Science Without Borders® Challenge is the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your talent while contributing to ocean conservation efforts!

The Science Without Borders® Challenge is an international art competition that encourages students to use their creativity to promote the protection, preservation, and restoration of our oceans. Hosted by the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation, this annual contest provides an opportunity for students to learn about marine ecosystems and the vital species that keep them healthy, all while competing for exciting scholarships.

2025 Challenge Theme: "Marine Keystone Species"

This year’s theme, “Marine Keystone Species,” asks students to focus on a specific keystone species living in the ocean. These creatures are critical to maintaining the balance and health of marine ecosystems, and your artwork can help shine a light on their importance. Whether it’s a predator, prey, or any other species, keystone species are essential to preserving the intricate web of life under the sea.

For your submission, you should create artwork that highlights the role a keystone species plays in its ecosystem. This could include species like sea otters, sharks, coral reefs, or any number of ocean-dwelling organisms that are critical to the health of the environment.

Additionally, there’s a “People’s Choice” award for each age group, where the winners will receive a $50 scholarship based on public votes.
