Are you an aspiring writer aged 18 or younger? Do you dream of seeing your story published and shared with the world? The GEMA International Short Story Writing Competition is here to make that dream come true! Whether you're a budding storyteller or an enthusiastic writer, this is your chance to showcase your talent and get published in a book created by and for kids, distributed across 150+ countries!
How to Participate
It’s simple! Follow these 3 easy steps to enter the competition:
- Fill out the registration form (link available on the contest page).
- You’ll be redirected to a payment page. Pay the INR 500 fee and ensure the page stays open after payment.
- Once the payment is complete, you’ll be taken to a Google Form where you can upload your story.
Note: All submissions must be made through the form—no email submissions are accepted, except for bulk entries from schools. Be sure to save the web URL of the Google Form if you plan to submit your story later, as it’s generated only once.
Before filling out the Google Form, have the following ready:
- Your story as a .doc file
- Your ID proof
- Your transaction number/payment ID (found in the receipt sent to you after payment)
If you lose the form link or need help with the receipt, check the FAQ section for guidance.
Categories and Word Limits
The competition features four age categories:
- Sub-junior (7-8 years) – Minimum 300 words
- Junior (9-11 years) – Minimum 500 words
- Middle (12-14 years) – Minimum 700 words
- Senior (15-18 years) – Minimum 1000 words
The maximum word limit for all categories is 1,500 words. Feel free to write on any topic or genre—the choice is yours!
Submission Guidelines
Your story must be:
- Written in English
- Typed as a doc file (no handwritten entries)
Below your story, include the following information:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Category entered
- Transaction number (from Stripe after entry fee payment)
- Story title
- Email address (optional)
- School name
- Country
