दीपावली में मुख्य रूप से देवी लक्ष्मी के आगमन के लिए, धन के रूप में उनका आशीर्वाद माँगते हुए, उनसे प्रार्थनाएँ की जाती हैं। जैसे, घर के प्रवेश द्वार पर एक रंगोली डिज़ाइन बनाई जाती है, न केवल आने वाले मेहमानों का स्वागत करने के लिए, बल्कि स्वयं देवी के लिए भी। रंगोली पैटर्न आमतौर पर रंगीन चाक, चावल पाउडर और कुचल चूना पत्थर का उपयोग करके बनाया जाता है।
