UNHCR-VIT-AP Essay Competition World Refugee Day 2021



On 4 December 2000, the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 55/76 decided that, from 2000, 20 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day. In this resolution, the General Assembly noted that 2001 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. Every year on the 20th of June, the World Refugee Day is commemorated to honour all refugees, raise awareness and solicit support
The Centre for Statelessness and Refugee Studies, School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance is collaborating with UNHCR India and School of Law, VIT-AP in organising a National Webinar and Essay Competition for World Refugee Day themed 'Global Refugee Compact in Fostering Relevant Laws, Policies and Practices vis-a-vis Protection and Care'." 


 ELIGIBILITY 

• The competition is Open for Under graduation, Post-Graduation and Research Scholars
from College and Universities Students across India only.
• All entries must be written in English and the Submission shall be in PDF Format
Only.
 
THEME

‘Global Compact on Refugee in Fostering Laws, Policies and Practices vis-a-vis Protection
and Care'.
(Participants are allowed to choose any sub-themes within the main theme.)

 Word Limits of Essay/Paper writing:
The essay/paper should be within 3000 - 5000 words limit. The essay/paper should not
exceed the word limit.
How to Participate?
• To participate in the essay/Research Paper competition, fill out the participation form
• Participants have to register on or before 30.06.2021 along with the Title and abstract
of their paper. The Abstract should not exceed 300 words.
• There is no registration fee for this competition. Please maintain due diligence while
filling the Google form. The credentials of participants will be checked for successful
registration.
Formatting Criteria
• Main Body: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size – 12, Line Spacing – 1.5 and
Alignment – Justified.
• Footnotes: Font: Times New Roman, Font Size – 10, Line Spacing – 1.0 and Alignment
– Justified.
• Margins should be 1 inch or 2.54 cm on all sides
• The participants shall follow the Harvard Bluebook 20th Edition or APA as the mode
of Citation.
Submission Procedure:
• All entries must be submitted to wrdcompetition2021@gmail.com. Entries submitted
through any other medium/mode would not be considered for evaluation.
• The deadline for submission is 11:59 pm, 31st July 2021, Any submission received

beyond the deadline will be rejected.
Important Dates:
• Starting Date of Registration: 21st June 2021
• Last Date of Registration: 30th June 2021 Along with the Abstract
• Last Date of Submission of Full Paper: 31st July 2021

Awards:
• Certificate of Participation will be given to the genuine entries and which follows the
terms and conditions given for the competition. The certificate will be sent through
email only and a hard copy will not be issued. Therefore all the participants are required
to provide their email address correctly.
