A Legacy Born During the Pandemic
Collins India is delighted to announce the much-awaited sixth season of the Collins Spelling Bee, a prestigious national-level championship that continues to capture the imagination of students across the country.
Launched in 2020 during the challenging days of the pandemic, Collins Spelling Bee was created to ensure that children could continue to engage in enriching activities, even while navigating unprecedented disruptions to their school lives. Over the years, the competition has received an overwhelming response from schools nationwide, growing bigger and more inspiring with each edition.
Inspiring a Love for Language
True to its mission, Collins Spelling Bee nurtures a love for language and empowers young learners to discover the joy and power of words. From carefully curated word lists to rigorous rounds, the championship encourages students to expand their vocabulary, improve their spelling, and build their confidence in using the English language.
Competition Schedule
This year, the competition schedule promises another exciting journey for participants:

Preliminary Rounds: 11, 12, and 13 August 2025

Semi-finals: 1, 2, and 3 September 2025

The Official Study Companion
All words featured in the competition will be sourced from the Collins COBUILD Learner’s Illustrated Dictionary (3rd Edition), which serves as the official study companion for this year’s event. Designed especially for learners, this richly illustrated dictionary supports students in building their vocabulary, strengthening spelling skills, and deepening word understanding. Additional words may be taken from the Collins English Dictionary, further broadening the learning experience.
British Council Joins as Venue and Prize Sponsor
This year’s Spelling Bee is supported by the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations, which comes on board as the proud Venue and Prize Sponsor. In a generous gesture, the British Council will award a one-year complimentary family membership to the families of the three winners of the Spelling Bee Finale.
