THINQ - The Indian Navy Quiz

As part of the India’s 75th Independence Year, the Indian Navy is organizing a National level quiz competition ‘THINQ’, with the theme ‘Sail beyond your horizon’, wherein 7,500 schools from across the country are expected to participate.


Guidelines
The Quiz is open only for schools within the geographical boundary of India.
Each team will consist of 2 members and a standby member. A teacher from the school should accompany the team.
Questions will be from the field of General Knowledge/ GK. The broad topics which the Quiz will cover are India, History, Culture & Heritage, Sports, Entertainment, Science & Technology, World, Literature & Art, Current Affairs, Food & Lifestyle, Business& Brands etc.
There are two stages to the Quiz. A) Online Elimination round 1, 2 & Quarter Final B) Semi-Final and the Grand Final onboard the aircraft carrier / the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
The qualifying Semi Finalists teams will get the chance to meet and interact with officers and personnel of Indian Navy in uniform and understand the exciting world of Naval Operations onboard warships, submarines, aircrafts and fighter jets and witness operations of ships, helicopters at close quarters being at sea.
The participation and achievements of all the students will be accredited by certificates awarded by The Indian Navy along with several exciting prizes.
Registrations for the Quiz start from 1st JULY, 2022.
The Schedule for Elimination 1, 2 and Quarter Final will be intimated to the registered teams.
Travel and other expenses for the Semi-Finalists and the finals will be borne by The Indian Navy.
2.2 Quiz Outline
Post completion of the registration, initial rounds of the Quiz would be conducted online for all teams participating from each of the four zones (North, East, West and South). Each team will comprise of two participants and one standby (studying as regulars from class IX to XII in the school) and one guide/ teacher. Only ONE Team per school /per school branch (if more than one branch in any city/ town) is allowed to register. Rounds beyond the Quarter finals will be held in the Offline mode.

2.2.1 Practice Test

After Registration closes, there will be a Practice Test for students to become familiar with the Online Quiz Platform. It will consist of 15 questions to be answered in 7 minutes. The Practice Test is just a Demo and the Score will not be considered.

2.3 Elimination Round – I/ ER – I
Nearly 7,500 schools from across the country are expected to participate in ER-I. The broad feature of this round is as follows: –

The first round of elimination will be held Online.
There will be a total of 30 Questions with a maximum time limit of 10 minutes.
Only one login per team is permitted.
ER-I would be open from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM for the day of the round.
The Top 50% Teams based on score and time taken will qualify for Elimination Round – II.
Each participant will be awarded an e-Participation Certificate.
2.4 Elimination Round – II/ ER – II

The second round of elimination will also be held Online.
The qualifiers from Elimination Round – I will participate in Elimination Round – II.
There will be a total of 30 Questions with a maximum time limit of 10 minutes.
Only one login per team is permitted.
ER-II would be open from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM for the day of the round.
The Top 50% Teams based on score and time taken will qualify for the next round/quarter final.

2.5 Quarter Finals/ QF.

The Quarter Finals will also be held Online.
The qualifiers from ER – II will participate in Quarter Final.
There will be a total of 30 Questions with a maximum time limit of 10 minutes.
Only one login per team is permitted.
QF would be open from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM for the day of the round.
The Top 16 teams based on score and time taken will qualify for the Semi Finals.

2.6 Semi Finals

In this round, 16 teams qualifying the Quarter Finals will participate in the Semi Finals.
The Top 16 teams will be organised into TWO SEMI-FINALS of 8 teams each.
TOP 4 TEAMS from each Semi- Final will qualify to the Grand Finals.
The Grand Finals will have 8 teams competing.
The Semi Finals will be held at a unique venue, the teams could be onboard the Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikramaditya in harbour/at sea or at the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

2.7 Grand Finale

In the Grand Finale, the qualifying 8 teams will participate.
There will be one winner and two teams will be adjudged as first and second runner ups.
The Grand Finale will also be held at a unique venue, the teams could be onboard the Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikramaditya in harbour/at sea or at the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala or onboard a naval warship.
The Format, Rounds, Scoring and all Rules for the Semi-Finals and Grand Finals will be conveyed by the Quizmaster on the day of the event.

Prizes
Apart from the rich and unique experience mentioned above, attractive prizes would be awarded to the winning team, 1st runner up, 2nd runner up and all 13 teams participating in the semi finals. Two participants adjudged as best quizzers  will also be awarded with attractive prizes.
