TechTatva 2020 - Manipal Hackathon’20


Manipal Hackathon’20 is the first of its kind Software hackathon being held at Manipal Institute of Technology. The aim behind the hackathon is to solve problems of social innovation pertaining to various domains using simple programming solutions. The event expects participation from across the nation with the participation not being limited to only Technical Colleges.
Prizes upto Rs. 3 Lakhs to be won

This year, the hackathon is based upon the idea of a Limitless Mind: Learn, Lead and Live Without Barriers.

It signifies the importance of access to learning and technology around all the sectors such as political, economic, healthcare etc. without any barriers.



Who can participate?
Only students pursuing their undergraduate course in any field like engineering, basic sciences, medical, dental, computer application etc can participate in the Hackathon. Bonafide student certificate or a valid ID is mandatory.

Using technology to unleash the insurmountable potential we have as the human race is the need of the hour.
So go ahead, take your pick. Present your ideas and methods, to use technology and solve the needs to hour from racism to food distribution to cyber security.
This is a software based Hackathon. Hardware based solutions are not allowed.

Round 120th June to 20th July 2020
Specify a brief description of what the solution intends to do for tackling the issues/ problems identified.
Round 1 Evaluation20th July to 30th July 2020
Round 21st August to 30th August 2020.
It aims at understanding the technical awareness, knowledge, and ability to implement technical solutions to real life problems.
Round 2 Result10th September 2020
Round 3TBD
This round will consist of a 36 hour coding challenge. It shall be the final round where each shortlisted team will have to code, implement and present their solution.

TIMELINE
ROUND-1
25th May to 10th July 2019. (Registrations and submissions of abstract closes.)
Evaluation of Round 1 – 10th to 25th July 2019.
ROUND-2
25th July to 25th August 2019.
Result of Round 2: 5th September 2019.
ROUND-3
11th – 12th October 2019, 36 hours of coding.
Teams arrive in Manipal on 10th evening.

GUIDELINES

  • Only students pursuing their undergraduate course in any field like engineering, basic sciences, medical, dental, computer application etc can participate in the Hackathon. Bonafide student certificate or a valid ID is mandatory.
  • A team of 4 people is mandatory to participate in the Hackathon.
  • All the members of the team must be currently studying in the same University/Institute
  • The team members can be from different Academic levels (Years/programme).
  • Once a team has registered, changes in the team members will not be entertained.
  • A participant can only be a part of one team during the entire course of Hackathon.
  • Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and Copyright issues must be strictly followed, that is, you cannot submit content that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have the permission from the rightful owner to post the content.
  • Since the aim of the Hackathon is Social Welfare, the code shall be open source so that it can be picked up and used for a social cause.
  • A small video (max 5 minutes) and proper documentation should be submitted with the code submission during Round 2. This video should include proper installation steps along with the necessary screenshots.
  • It is a purely software-based Hackathon. All the submissions must be in the form of Web applications or Mobile applications or any GUI based application.
  • Note: All facilities such as boarding, lodging and logistics will be provided to teams reaching the final on-campus round being held at Manipal Institute of Technology.
