IIM Sirmaur invites entries for Essay Competition On the Occasion of World Environment Day. World Environment Day takes place every year on 5 June. It is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Over the years, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
The interested participants can submit their essay on any one of the below mentioned topics:
Topic 1: “The need to live sustainably in harmony with nature”
Topic 2: “Transformative changes – Policies required for greener lifestyles”
Topic 3: “Global efforts for addressing the climate and nature crisis”
Guidelines for Essay Writing Competition
Eligibility: Essay writing competition is open for all the full-time graduate and post-graduate students of Indian institutions/universities.
Word Limit: The word limit for essay submission is 2500 including references (if any).
Font, Size & Line Spacing: The essay should be typed in English language on an A4 size electronic page MS word (Font: Times New Roman, Font size: 12, Line spacing: 1.15).
Cover Page of the Essay: The Essay should be preceded by a cover page mentioning the name of the participant, program/course, name of the College/University/Institute with complete address, participant contact number, active email ID on the top of the essay.
Participant’s College ID: A copy of identity card (clear image) issued by participant’s institute authority should also be included on the front page of the submission.
Criteria for Essay Evaluation: Content, Originality, Clarity and Structure.
Originality: Only original essays will be considered for the competition. Previously published essays are therefore excluded. Any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification of the essay.
Copyright: The copyright will remain with the authors, and they are free to re-use their own material.
Submission Procedure: The essay has to be submitted as a single MS-Word file and mailed to uba@iimsirmaur.ac.in with the subject line 'IIM Sirmaur Environment Day Essay Submission' on/before 12 June 2022, 23:59:59 IST.
Cash Prize: Winners will receive cash prizes as per the following table:

Third INR 1000
The prize winners shall also be given a certificate. Names of the winners will be published on IIM Sirmaur website.
