INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education 2024

Applications are invited for INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education 2024 for Class 12 Passed Students by Ministry of Science and Technology. 

INSPIRE Scholarship For Higher Education (SHE) 2024is an initiative of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India to provide financial help to students who have passed Class 12 and wish to pursue courses in Basic and Natural Science. The selected students will receive a scholarship amount of INR 5,000 per month and a mentorship grant of INR 20,000 per annum.

Under SHE component, 12,000 scholarships (From SHE-2018 batch onwards), each valued at ` 80,000/- are announced annually to students pursuing Bachelors and Masters level courses in Basic and Natural Science areas.

Eligibility
Be within the age group of 17-22 years.
Be pursuing a degree in one of the following subjects under Natural and Basic Sciences at the B.Sc., B.S., and Int. M.Sc./M.S. level.
Have scored in the top 1% of their Class 12 examination OR
Have secured ranks in the JEE of IIT, AIPMT, NEET (within the top 10,000 rank) OR
Be a National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholar, Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholar or International Olympiad medalist.

Scholarship Amount
Selected scholars will receive a monthly emolument of INR 5,000 for a period of five years, or until the completion of their course, whichever is earlier. Scholars are also eligible to receive a mentorship grant of INR 20,000 per annum.

  4. Language Selection: Each teacher can select one language for presenting one song.
  5. Time Limit: The performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
  6. Accompanists: A maximum of three accompanists is allowed per participant.
  7. Accompaniment: Gandhi Smarak Nidhi will provide only a harmonium.
  8. Prizes:
    • There will be three prizes.
    • If fewer than ten entries are received, only two prizes (1st and 2nd) will be awarded.
  9. Judges’ Decision: The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  10. Song Submission: Participants must submit a copy of their song at Nidhi’s office on the day of the competition.
  11. Entry Submission: Entries should be submitted on your school’s letterhead or via the enclosed entry form, and must reach Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai by Tuesday, 24th September 2024.

Enter the 2024 Commonwealth Short Story Prize – Win Up to £5,000!



The Commonwealth Short Story Prize is now accepting submissions for its 2024 edition, with the deadline set for 1 November 2024. This prestigious prize is awarded annually to the best piece of unpublished short fiction, and it is free to enter. Writers aged 18 and over from any Commonwealth country are invited to submit their stories.

About the Prize

The Commonwealth Short Story Prize is open to unpublished short stories between 2,000 and 5,000 words. The prize covers all fiction genres, including science fiction, speculative fiction, historical fiction, crime, romance, and literary fiction. Writers have the freedom to explore any subject matter.

Submissions are accepted in the following languages:

  • Bengali
  • Chinese
  • Creole
  • English
  • French
  • Greek
  • Malay
  • Maltese
  • Portuguese
  • Samoan
  • Swahili
  • Tamil
  • Turkish

Translated stories are also eligible, and if a winning story is a translation, the translator will receive an additional prize of £750.

Prizes

  • Overall Winner: £5,000
  • Regional Winners: £2,500 (for winners from Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe, the Caribbean, and the Pacific)
  • Translator Prize: £750 (if applicable)

The five regional winning stories will be published in Granta, an acclaimed literary magazine, and featured in a special print collection by Paper + Ink. Additionally, the shortlisted stories will be published in adda, the online literary magazine of the Commonwealth Foundation.

Judging Process

An international judging panel will review all submissions. The panel will create a shortlist of approximately twenty stories, from which five regional winners will be chosen. One of these regional winners will be named the overall winner.

Eligibility and Entry Guidelines

  • Writers must be citizens of a Commonwealth country or stateless persons currently residing in a Commonwealth country.
  • Stories must be original, unpublished, and must not have been previously submitted to the Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
  • Entries must be submitted via the online entry form by 1 November 2024 (11:59 PM in any time zone).
