IIM Sirmaur invites entries for Essay Competition On the Occasion of World Environment Day. World Environment Day takes place every year on 5 June. It is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Guidelines for Essay Writing Competition
Eligibility: Essay writing competition is open for all the full-time graduate and post-graduate students of Indian institutions/universities.
Word Limit: The word limit for essay submission is 2500 including references (if any).
Font, Size & Line Spacing: The essay should be typed in English language on an A4 size electronic page MS word (Font: Times New Roman, Font size: 12, Line spacing: 1.15).
Cover Page of the Essay: The Essay should be preceded by a cover page mentioning the name of the participant, program/course, name of the College/University/Institute with complete address, participant contact number, active email ID on the top of the essay.
Participant’s College ID: A copy of identity card (clear image) issued by participant’s institute authority should also be included on the front page of the submission.
Criteria for Essay Evaluation: Content, Originality, Clarity and Structure.
Originality: Only original essays will be considered for the competition. Previously published essays are therefore excluded. Any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification of the essay.
Copyright: The copyright will remain with the authors, and they are free to re-use their own material.

CREST International Spell Bee Competition
CREST International Spell Bee (Summer 2022) is India’s first Online Spelling Assessment for classes 1-8 which assesses students on the basis of Meaning, Spelling and Pronunciation of the words in English language (British English). Hence, it will help students to foster their lexical development which forms the basis of English language.
Other important points to note about CREST International Spell Bee (Summer 2022) are:
The assessments have been carefully designed by a team of English language experts.
India’s first online proctored Spell Bee exam (Summer 2022).
Online Rapid Fire round.
Two levels of exam.
Objective-type test that the students need to complete in 60 minutes.
The dictionary which will be used for reference is Oxford Learner's Dictionary. This will be w.r.t. spellings & meanings. In case, if the word is not found in this dictionary, then it is assumed that this word does not exist.
The exam consists of two sections:
Section-1: Spell Bee (55 minutes)
Section-2: Rapid Fire (5 minutes)
Guidelines
There are separate question papers for each and every class.
The exam is conducted online only using laptop, desktop or tablet with a high speed Internet connection and webcam. Also, headsets are required because the test will have a few audio-based questions. Please note that the test can't be taken using a mobile device.
For students of class 1, the parent/teacher can assist the child in guiding through the questions.
In case the registration is not through a school, the student will have to take the exam from home.
How to Participate

2. If you have any such technology or Innovation in your locality, that has made life simpler for the people and have ensured ‘ease of living’ besides generating income and employment, you can share it with us in the form of pictorial representation. You can send your inputs in the form of picture collage that explicitly narrates how the technology/innovation is used by the locals and what changes it has brought in their lives. The collection of pictures explaining the technical as well as socio-economic impact of the STI, would be appreciated. This initiative of Ministry of Science and Technology is in association with MyGov.

Competition Guidelines:
The competition is open for all Indian citizens.
The video-clip should be of minimum 30 seconds and maximum 3 minutesduration.
A participant can submit a maximum of 3 video-clips. However, each clip is required to be covering a different technology or innovation.
The video-clip should be clear and descriptive.
The language should be simple and easy to understand.
Mobile or any other video-capturing device should be used for making the clip.
Narrations from those capturing it and from community members or other persons are allowed.
Language should be either Hindi or English or both.
Use of prohibited, intimidating or abusive content or language is strictly not allowed and doing so would invite a legal action.
जनभागीदारी से सुशासन हिमाचल का महा-क्विज - Quiz on Women Empowerment
हिमाचल सरकार द्वारा ‘‘जनभागीदारी से सुशासन’’ हिमाचल का महा-क्विज का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। यह क्विज केंद्र और प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा चलाई जा रही जनकल्याणकारी योजनाओं पर आधारित है। क्विज का आयोजन प्रदेश सरकार के वेब पोर्टल ‘‘माईगव हिमाचल’’ पर होगा। क्विज में भाग लेने के लिए प्रतिभागी को माईगव हिमाचल पोर्टल पर अपना पंजीकरण करवाना होगा। माईगव पोर्टल पर पंजीकरण करवाना काफी सरल है। इसके लिए प्रतिभागी का अपना ईमेल अकाउंट और मोबाइल नंबर होना चाहिए। रजिस्ट्रेशन करवाने के बाद माईगव पोर्टल के होम पेज पर क्विज से संबंधित बैनर होगा उस पर क्लिक करके क्विज से संबंधित पेज ओपन होगा। क्विज पर सरकार की योजनाओं से संबंधित सवाल पूछे जाएंगे तथा उनके सही जवाब पर क्लिक करना होगा। इस क्विज में 8 राडंड होंगे, प्रत्येक राउंड में अव्वल प्रदर्शन करने वाले प्रतिभागियों को 1-1 हजार रुपए की नकद इनाम राशि भेंट की जाएगी।
8 राउंड में प्रथम, द्वितीय और तृतीय स्थान रहने वालों को क्रमशः 51,000 रुपए, 21,000 रुपए, 11,000 रुपए बतौर इनाम राशि भेंट की जाएगी।
‘‘हिमाचल का क्विज’’ के अंतर्गत सबसे पहले ‘‘महिला सशक्तिकरण’’ पर प्रश्नोत्तरी 11 मई, 2022 से 25 मई, 2022 तक होगी। ‘‘जनभागीदारी से सुशासन’’ हिमाचल का महा-क्विज जिसका उद्देश्य सरकार की विभिन्न जनकल्याणकारी योजनाओं और सुशासन के बारे में प्रदेश के आमजन को जागरूक करना है। इस क्विज के माध्यम से जनता को सरकार की योजनाओं की जानकारी हो सकेगी और योजनाओं का लाभ उठाने के लिए भी काफी आसानी होगी। ‘‘जनभागीदारी से सुशासन’’ हिमाचल का महा-क्विज श्रृंखला में विभिन्न विषयों पर प्रश्नोत्तरी शुरू होगी। बता दें कि प्रश्नोत्तरी 2 भाषाओं, हिंदी और अंग्रेजी में उपलब्ध होगी।

CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest (CCCC) 2024
The 12th edition of CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest will take place between August and November 2024. The broad structure and timeline of the contest will be as mentioned below:
PERIOD: August-November 2024
FORMAT: Three-stage hybrid (online-offline); two students from a school will form a team and play together
STAGE I: Four online rounds comprising a Practice Round and three weekly online rounds on successive Sundays
· The Practice Round will be held on August 11, 2024
· Round 1 on August 18, 2024
· Round 2 on August 25, 2024
· Round 3 on September 01, 2024
· For the rounds mentioned above, a grid of clues will be uploaded on the website www.crypticsingh.com at 1400 hours (2 pm) and the submission of answers will be accepted till 1700 hours (5 pm)
· While the Practice Round will be held for the sake of familiarization to the contest, the marks scored in this round will not be counted for final standings of school teams.
· Rounds 1, 2, and 3 will be scoring rounds and a cumulative leaderboard will be formed at the end of Round 3 taking into account the marks scored by the contestants in each round. The top 100 on the cumulative leaderboard will qualify for Stage II
· The top 20 teams of each round will also qualify for Stage II, irrespective of the cumulative standing
· Marks will be allotted for both correctness and the time of submission of answers
STAGE II: Shortlisted teams on the basis of the Stage I marks will be called for either face-to-face online rounds or offline rounds in select cities of the country; the mode will be decided on the basis of the prevailing situation, the number of teams and the availability of host institutes in the respective cities
STAGE III: An offline National Grand Finale involving the shortlisted teams after Stage II will be held in the national capital
The schedule for Stage II and III will be announced separately.
In addition, the organization may also decide to hold a few offline city rounds between August and September, depending on logistical convenience, for providing direct entry to school teams into the national Grand Finale.
ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to students of class VII to XII in a school affiliated to any of the recognized school boards in the country; contestants studying in different classes of a school may form a team
REGISTRATION: All participants will first have to register on www.crypticsingh.com. One of the two team members will be the main contestant who will receive the registration ID and password following a successful registration.
The registration is free of cost
The registration on the website will begin on August 07, 2024
There will be prizes for top performing teams and certificates for all contestants
