In connection with National Science Day, the Department of Physics, NIT Srinagar is organizing a Science Quiz Competition. The competition is open for everyone. The main aim of this event is to create public awareness of science during these hard times.
National Science Day is celebrated annually on 28th February to mark the anniversary of the discovery of Raman Effect by Prof. C.V. Raman, a discovery that fetched him the Nobel Prize in 1930. This Day is celebrated as a powerful advocacy tool to raise public awareness about science and for popularizing science among the masses.
This year’s Science Day theme would focus on areas like history of Indian science, philosophy & science, agri-tech, clean air, energy, water, waste, and sanitation, biodiversity, and science diplomacy. We have learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, coexistence and especially the importance of understanding science from the pandemic. Linking science to society, public understanding of science and the participation of citizens in science are essential in creating societies where people have the necessary knowledge to make professional and personal choices.
