YUVIKA - YUva VIgyani KAryakram (Young Scientist Programme)

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is offering an incredible opportunity for young minds through its Young Scientist Programme, or YUva VIgyani KAryakram (YUVIKA). This special programme is designed for students who are passionate about space science and technology, aiming to inspire and nurture the next generation of scientists and engineers in India. With a focus on imparting fundamental knowledge in Space Technology, Space Science, and Space Applications, YUVIKA is a gateway to the world of space exploration for school children.

What is YUVIKA?

YUVIKA, or the Young Scientist Programme, is an initiative by ISRO that aims to introduce school students to emerging trends in space science and technology. The programme is crafted with the vision of "Catch them young", where students can explore the vast world of space technology and gain valuable insights into the future of space exploration.

Not only does this programme provide knowledge, but it also encourages young minds to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The ultimate goal is to inspire students to contribute to the country's future in the realm of space research and technology.

Key Details about the Programme

  • Eligibility:
The programme is open to students studying in Class 9 as of January 1, 2025, across India.

  • Program Centres:
Selected students will attend the programme at one of the seven ISRO centres, including:

    1. Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun
    2. Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram
    3. Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC) Sriharikota
    4. U. R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru
    5. Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad
    6. National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad
    7. North-Eastern Space Applications Centre (NE-SAC), Shillong
  • Programme Costs:
ISRO will cover the course material, lodging, and boarding expenses for all selected students. For travel, ISRO will reimburse the travel expenses for selected students (II AC train fare or AC bus fare by state government-authorized transport) from their nearest railway station or bus terminal to the reporting centre and back. Students will need to submit the original travel ticket for reimbursement.

  • Registration Deadline:
The registration for YUVIKA 2025 ends on March 23, 2025.
