Technothlon is not just another school exam — it’s an international school championship that challenges students to think beyond books and test the limits of their logic and problem-solving skills. Entirely organized by the student community of IIT Guwahati, Technothlon has grown tremendously since its humble beginnings in 2004. Today, it attracts thousands of students every year from across India and abroad.
What is Technothlon?
Technothlon is an annual logic-based championship for students of classes 9th to 12th. It is conducted in two stages — Prelims and Mains.
-
Prelims: An offline exam held in designated schools and centers across 450+ cities in India. The paper is designed to test your logical reasoning and presence of mind — no rote learning, no syllabus, just pure problem-solving.
-
Mains: Based on Prelims results, the top teams are invited to IIT Guwahati for the final round. Here, teams compete in various innovative events and activities for the coveted top positions.
Technopedia: Your Gateway to Practice
Technopedia is the online module of Technothlon. It gives participants a unique chance to experience the style and difficulty level of the Prelims in advance. It includes monthly quizzes, test modules, and previous year question papers, all designed to prepare you thoroughly.
A Part of Techniche — IIT Guwahati’s Flagship Festival
Technothlon Mains coincides with Techniche, IIT Guwahati’s Annual Techno-Management Festival — the largest of its kind in North-East India and one of the biggest in the country. Participants get exclusive access to some of Techniche’s events: Lecture Series by renowned personalities, RoboWars, workshops, exhibitions, and more.
Eminent figures like Walter Bender, George Kourounis, Roger Hunter, and Dr. Samuel Chand have graced the festival in the past. The experience is as inspiring as it is intellectually rewarding.
Who Can Participate?
Technothlon is open to all students studying in classes 9th and 10th (Juniors Squad) or 11th and 12th (Hauts Squad) for the academic year 2025-26.
There are no prerequisites — no syllabus, no memorization. All you need is common sense, logical thinking, and the curiosity to tackle tricky problems.
