Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Quiz 2.0

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was launched on 15th August 2020 by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in the 272 most vulnerable districts to substance use in the country. Through NMBA, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment intends to create awareness on a mass level on substance use through the participation of its major stakeholders like youth, adolescents, women, educational institutions and the community at large.


Since its launch, lively discussions have started taking place on substance use in public spheres like educational institutions, community areas and virtual spaces like social media which have prompted those who need help to seek counselling, treatment & rehabilitation services. This has helped people become more aware of substance use and the shedding of stigma related to drug abuse. On August 15, 2023, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was expanded in all the districts of the country.

MoSJE and MyGov invite citizens to participate in the quiz competition on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2.0 (NMBA). Each participant of the quiz shall be rewarded with an e-certificate.

#Mumbai Echoes: Storytelling Contest by StoryMirror

 "Mumbai Echoes," a celebration of storytelling through sound! StoryMirror invites all aspiring storytellers to participate in our audio storytelling contest for a chance to showcase their talent on stage in Mumbai.


Guidelines:

1. Submission Period: Submissions are open from March 15th to April 14th, 2024. All entries must be submitted within this timeframe.

2. Theme: There are no restrictions on genre or theme. It should just be engaging and entertaining!

3. Audio Format: Submissions must be in audio format, with a duration of 2 to 3 minutes.

4. Eligibility: The contest is open to English and Hindi storytellers.

5. Performance: Shortlisted participants will perform on stage on 27th April, 2024 in Mumbai. Each performer will be given 2-3 minutes to present their story.

6. Guests: Each performer will be provided two free passes to bring along their own guests to the event.

7. Selection Criteria for Participants: Entries will be judged based on storytelling effectiveness, audio quality, creativity, and adherence to the submission guidelines.

8. Judging Criteria for Winners: Three judges will score and finalize three winners based on their performance.


Results:

1. Announcement of Shortlisted Participants: Shortlisted participants will be notified via email and announced on our platform by April 20th, 2024.

2. Announcement of Winners: Winners will be announced on the day of performance at the venue itself, after being scored by the judges.


Prizes:

Three winners will receive a trophy and a certificate of recognition for their storytelling prowess.

Terms & Conditions:

1. The contest is open to residents of Mumbai only, as shortlisted speakers will be required to attend the event in person.

2. StoryMirror will NOT provide any traveling expenses for the shortlisted winners. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event venue.

3. Shortlisted winners must be present at the venue on the event day to perform their audio stories. Failure to attend may result in disqualification and forfeiture of any prizes or opportunities associated with the contest.

Tiny-Tots

This is a five-day activity-based science programme for students who have passed classes III, IV and V, that includes simple science demonstrations and model making.

First Batch: April 2 to 6 Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Second Batch: April 2 to 6 Time: 3 pm to 5 pm.
Third Batch: April 16 to 20 Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Fun with Science

This is a five-day programme for students who have passed classes VI and VII. Students are taught the basics of science through demonstrations and hands-on activities.

One Day Workshops for students

Three one-day workshops will be conducted for students who have passed classes VII and VIII. These are

May 5th One-day workshop on Recreational Mathematics.

Astro-computing

This five-day computer-based programme introduces students of classes VIII to X to methods adopted by astronomers to locate positions of asteroids, understand rotation of the Sun and other celestial motions using CLEA software.

Time: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Astronomy through Apps

Astronomy is an observational science, but not restricted to only telescopes any more. You can learn about sun-earth connections, planets, stars and galaxies with apps on your mobile phone. A 3-day workshop has been organised for high school students, where selected Astronomy apps will be introduced with basic science concepts necessary to understand the techniques. Android device is essential to install and run the Apps.

Date: April 18th to 20th.
Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Summer Course for high school students

This is for students of classes IX and X on the topic “The Science of Sense Organs.”. In this course, we will discuss the fundamental ideas related to nature of sound and how they are used in producing and detecting sound in nature as well as in human-made instruments.

Time: 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Number of participants: 30.
Fee: Rs.1000/- per head.

From Web of Life to Universe

This is a ten-day programme for college students. This is aimed at motivating PUC and B.Sc., students towards research both in Physical and Life Sciences. Lectures for these courses are given by scientists from research institutes. The lectures introduce the students to fundamental ideas and frontier areas of research in various fields. Special lectures by medical practitioners about relevance of physics and biology to medical science also are scheduled.

Date: May 21st– 31st (Tentative dates- subject to the PhD interview dates of different institutions).
Time: 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Number of participants: 40 in each batch.
Fee: Rs.1000/- per head.

ZSD Workshop

This is a workshop for high school students which includes activities with Sun projection, estimation of earth’s circumference by Eratosthenes experiment and estimation of speed of the earth’s rotation. This will be conducted April 24.

Date: April 24th.
Time: 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Number of participants: 30.
Fee: Rs.250/- per head.

Universe in the classroom

This is a three day programme for students above 13 years and interested general public. The programme introduces some basic astronomy with hands on activities, model demonstration and movies. This will be conducted from April 26-28.

Date: April 26th-28th.
Time: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Number of participants: 40.
Fee: Rs.750/- per head.

Xplore

This is a five day programme for Pre University students aimed to introduce the method of doing science with experiments performed using simple things. A science exploration kit will be provided to the students which contains materials that can be used by the students to perform several experiments. This will be conducted from May 1st-5th.

Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Number of participants: 30.
Fee: Rs.2000/- per head.

Quiz on New Criminal Laws

27th International Wildlife Photo Competition

AFPAN “L’Or Vert” (Association for the Montier Wildlife and Nature Photo Festival) organizes a free photography and filmed sequences competition for its International Wildlife Photography Festival which taking place from 21st to 24th November 2024 in Montier-en-Der (La Porte du Der, Haute-Marne, Grand Est, France).



TERMS OF ENTRY
Competitors

The competition is open to any individual photographer except the technical committee, staff and members of the board of directors of AFPAN « l’Or Vert » – the association organizing the Festival – and the judges.

A distinct “junior” category is available for participants aged under 16 at the closing date of the competition. Each young participant must obtain the permission of a parent or guardian to enter the competition.

Aim of the competition

The aim of this competition is to show still or filmed images of wild flora, fauna, landscapes, as well as accounts supporting the conservation of habitats, species and biodiversity.

By entering the competition, the participants commit to:

being the sole owner of the work submitted and having the copyrights and permission to use its content
showing their interest in the environment and being mindful of the welfare of wildlife and habitats.
ensuring full compliance with any national or international legislation regarding protected species and habitats where the image was taken.
Much importance will be given to the personal work and ethical standards of the photographers, ensuring they comply with the ethics of the competition.

Entrants must be able to supply the original image (RAW files or files from the same series or film rushes), explain their work truthfully and accurately and make sure IPTC fields (caption, shooting location …) are filled in.

SECTIONS
Categories 1 to 9 will present photos or a video of wilderness – original raw or video rush required.

Are allowed: single-shot images that conform to the original, excluding HDR, focus stacking or overprint. The editing is limited to slight modifications to give a realistic view of the scene photographed and without distorting the spirit of the original shooting with the improvement of brightness, contrast or color, recovery, correction optical defects, reversal of reading direction, cropping, black and white processing, and localized retouching.
  • Wild birds in nature (3 photos maximum)
  • Wild mammals in nature (3 photos maximum)
  • Other wild animals in nature (3 photos maximum)
  • Wild plants (maximum 3 photos)
  • Graphics, form and matter of nature (3 photos maximum)
  • Natural landscapes of the world (3 photos maximum)
  • Still image sequences representing a homogeneous sequence, chronological or harmonious of 3 to 5 images on the previous themes
  • Film sequence showing a short video of nature (see article 6)
  • Man and nature (militant or documentary images, 3 photos maximum)
  • Nature revisited (3 photos maximum)
Will be featured in the “Nature Revisited” category, images using techniques that modify the perception of the original image, such as could not have been achieved in a single shot, software assembly, special technique or effect in the context of aesthetic or creative photographic work that respects the aims and spirit of the competition.

The PM Suryaghar: Muft Bijli Yojana aims to integrate the use of solar energy in our everyday lives through the recently launched Rooftop Solar (RTS) Programme. With an initial target of covering one crore households, the scheme will enable beneficiaries to generate up to 300 units of electricity per month through solar panels. The beneficiaries can also avail subsidy up to ₹78000.


To raise awareness of the scheme, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in collaboration with MyGov is organizing “PM SURYA GHAR MUFT BIJLI YOJANA Selfie Contest”. The contest invites citizens to become advocates of sustainable development, using selfies as a medium to convey their ideas and messages about adopting solar energy in their lives.

The Mascot must have a strong depiction of the importance of adopting solar energy and green energy in general.

Technical Parameters:
1. The mascot must be eye-catching and depict the finer ideas of this scheme along with its benefits.
2. The entries should be accompanied by a brief description of the mascot and how best it encapsulates the essence of the scheme.
3. The entries will only be accepted in high quality .JPEG format. Entries sent in any other format will be instantly disqualified.
