Google Code-in is a contest to introduce pre-university students (ages 13-17) to open source software development. Since 2010, over 8100 students from 107 countries have completed work in the contest.

YUVASASTHRA - TALENT SEARCH IN SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS

Nucleus, The Centre of Science in asosciation with the leading national News Paper, The Hindu, is organising YUVASASTHRA  - a seach for young talents in Science and Mathematics now studying in Class X.

Exam will be held at Various centres in Palakkad, Malappuram and Thrissur Districts on Sunday, 20th October 2019. The student shall report at the exam venue on time as instructed in the Admission Ticket. Late comers will not be allowed to attend the test.

The questions will be based on science subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology) of 8
th , 9th and 10th syllabus (State as well as CBSE).

Any 10th standard student can apply for Yuvasastra 19-20 by one of the following procedures (A or B):
A. Submit the application online - Instructions :
1. Visit www.yuvasastra.com and submit the application online as per the instructions before 18.10.2019.
2. Fill up all the 3 sections viz, A. Personal Details, B. General Details and C. Contact Details of the online application form carefully and accurately. Leave space between different parts of your name and initials if any.
3. Enter the Preview button below the page so that the applicant can view the information provided in the application on the display page. Carefully review the same and use the Edit/Modify button to make changes, if any.
4. After the final modification and verification, validate your application with OTP (One Time Password) by entering the Validate with OTP button and go for FINAL SUBMIT
5. The applicant will receive a confirmation SMS in the Registered Mobile Number.
6. If you are opting the online submission of application, NEVER submit offline application and vice versa.
OR

B. Submit the application offline - Instructions :
1. Get the printed application form along with the printed instructions from school authorities or from
Nucleus office directly. The student can also download the Application Form directly from www.yuvasastra.com. Download and read the instructions carefully before filling the application form.
2. If you are opting the submission of application offline NEVER submit online application and vice versa.
3. Fill up all the 3 sections viz, A. Personal Details, B. General Details and C. Contact Details of the application form carefully, neatly and accurately. Leave a box between different parts of your name and initials if any.
4. Question paper is available in 2 languages. Specify your choice of language in the application form.
5. Fill the application form appropriately as instructed and submit the completed application form to the teacher in charge (before 11.10.2019) or to the Nucleus Office directly (before 15.10.2019).
6. The student will receive a confirmation SMS between 13th and 17th of Oct.2019 in the Registered Mobile Number.
C. After getting the confirmation SMS :
1. The student will receive a second SMS when the Admission Ticket is ready to download (between 10 th and 19 th of Oct.2019). After receiving the SMS the student can visit www.yuvasastra.com and download the Admission Ticket. Get it printed, affix A RECENT COLOUR PASSPORT SIZE PHOTOGRAPH (taken within last 6 months) on the box specified. The student as well as the guardian/parent should sign on the specified columns of the Admission Ticket. Signature of the student and the parent are mandatory on the ADMISSION TICKET.
2. No student will be allowed to write the examination without a COMPLETE ADMISSION TICKET.
3. Part 1 (Attendance Slip) of the Admission Ticket will be collected by Nucleus officials at the exam hall and Part 2 will be returned to the student for future reference

National Students' Space Challenge 2019 - IIT Kharagpur and IIAE

The National Students' Space Challenge (NSSC) is the centre piece of spAts,Space Technology Students' Society, or spAts, in short, is the official student body under Kalpana Chawla Space Technology Cell . As the name suggests, NSSC is a national-level fest purely dedicated towards space and space technology. The fest had its start in the year 2011 when the society decided to independently host a fest to provide for a platform to those aspiring engineers and scientists of India who needed an opportunity to showcase their talent. In its inaugural year, NSSC had just one event: Liftoff. This event which is a competition to build the best water rocket with the given specifications still remains the highlight of the fest after 8 long years. Through the years, various other events such as autonomous and manual bot making, space quizzes, case studies and astrophotography among others have been added. Besides the events, the National Students' Space Challenge is also famous for its supremely successful guest lectures, exhibitions and workshops.

World Space Week 2019 PAINTING COMPETITION

ISRO Centres in Kerala (VSSC, LPSC and IISU) are celebrating World Space Week during
October 4-10, 2019. In connection with this, a competitionfor UP & High School students will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Kannur on October 6,2019.

The painting competition will be conducted with "The Moon: Gateway to the Stars" as the theme.

Who can participate

Competition is intended for Upper Primary and High School students. 
Students of classes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 can participate.

World Space Week 2019 - Inter-school Quiz Competition

As in previous years the ISRO Centres in Kerala (VSSC, LPSC and IISU) are celebrating World Space Week during October 4-10, 2019. The theme for 2019 is ‘The Moon: Gateway to the Stars’. This is a team event with each team consisting of two students.
Students may register at the Registration Portal in the World Space Week-2019 Website.
Students are free to choose their venue as per convenience and the same should be indicated during online registration.
A school can nominate maximum two teams for the event. Each team can consist of students from high school & higher secondary sections, but only two teams (four students) shall be nominated from a school.
In case of more than two registrations from one school, the teams which has registered first will be eligible to participate in the event.

Wildlife Week 2019 - Poster Designing Competition

Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department is organising a Poster Design competition for the general public in connection with the Wildlife Week Celebration.
 The poster should be made on paper of A3 size using water colour, poster colour or acrylic on biodiversity conservation . Posters may be sent in card board tubes to avoid damage.
Details of the participant should be given in a separate paper. No identification marks or names that helps to identify the artist should be written on the posters.

My Food for Future: Short Video Contest

International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is organising a short video contest for students. 

Calling all young filmmakers from around the world:Submit a 1–2 minute video for your chance to win a$500 PRIZE.

Your video should offer ideas and solutions that can help ensure the world has access to healthy, diverse, and affordable diets

A panel of senior representatives from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), along with film industry professionals, will select the winning entries. If chosen, your video will receive global attention when the winners are announced on October 16, 2019.

Eligibility
The video competition is open to young filmmakers from all over the world between the ages of 10 and 25, as of the date of submission. The contest includes two age-based categories: 10–17 and 18–25

Selection
Selections will be based on a video’s success in presenting ideas, inspiring action, and emphasizing creativity, innovation and storytelling. A panel of senior representatives from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), along with film industry professionals, will select the winning entries. Winners will be announced October 16, 2019.

Students of classes X to XII can apply for this programme in two different levels, which are defined below. These levels constitute two categories in which participants will be evaluated.
Level 1 - Students from Classes X and XI
Level 2 - Students of Classes XII
The programme is free for all candidates. There is no registration fee.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Registration :As a first step, candidates need to register online for the programme. 
Reading Phase :Beginning October 25, The Times of India newspaper will carry ONE article each day, in its print version, across a range of fields such as current affairs, science & technology, sports, politics, social issues, education, global developments etc. over a span of 50 days. These articles will provide multi- dimensional perspectives to help students get a deeper understanding of various interesting subjects. The articles will have a label reading TIMES SCHOLARS.
Practice Tests and Presentations :Weekly practice tests will be conducted online, with questions based on the article. Twice during the programme, candidates will be asked to summarize articles and share their view in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, which they can upload on the site. Each practice test will comprise 3 stories, each with 6 questions, to be answered in 15 minutes.
Final Examination :During Dec 21-23, 2019, there would be an online test followed by an interview to assess the students’ understanding & perspective. The test will comprise 11 stories, each with 6 questions, to be answered in 60 minutes.
First Shortlist and Interviews :The First Shortlist of the programme will be decided basis the cumulative score i.e. participation marks in the practice tests and presentations + marks achieved in the final examination. The best performers, in terms of the cumulative score, will need to appear for an interview in person.
Winners and felicitation :For each of the two levels (as mentioned in the Eligibility criteria mentioned earlier), 100 winners will be chosen as winners. A select number will be invited to a felicitation ceremony whose details will be communicated later.

The South Indian Bank Ltd. under it's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) invites applications under the third edition of 'SIB Scholar', a scholarship scheme for students belonging to financially challenged families, pursuing their Undergraduate courses in Kerala.

C) ELIGIBILITY:
Minimum Educational Qualification The candidate should have passed 12th Standard from any Govt. Higher Secondary School in Kerala with minimum 85% marks in Academic Year 2016-2017 or 2017-2018. (Students who have completed 12th Standard from Govt. aided, CBSE/ICSE schools are NOT ELIGIBLE)
Family income Annual family income should not exceed Rs. 100,000/-(Rupees One Lakh)
Under graduate courses eligible for scholarship B.Tech, MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BVMS, B.Pharm, B.Sc (Nursing), B.Sc(Agri), LLB and other 3 to 5 year full time under graduate courses. Students who got enrolled for the above mentioned courses during the year 2018-19 in Govt./Aided colleges in the state of Kerala are eligible. Students who are admitted to self financing colleges in Govt. quota during 2018-19 and paying the same Govt. fees are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
D) SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT : 

The Bank will pay/reimburse 100% of the tuition fees as per the fee structure to the selected students for seats allotted in the Government quota in Government and Aided colleges. An additional monthly allowance of Rs.4000/- towards hostel/subsistence cost will also be paid to the selected students for the entire duration of the regular course (excl. internship period, if any).

E) APPLICATION FEE: NIL 

CANDIDATES MEETING THE STIPULATED NORMS ONLY NEED TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP.

F) HOW TO APPLY
Candidates can apply online through the link below from 19.11.2018 to 05.12.2018.
The applicants are requested to ensure that the information filled in the Online-Application Form is correct before submitting the same.
There will not be any provision to modify the submitted online application.
Candidates making multiple registrations will be DISQUALIFIED
Candidates will have to enter their basic details and upload their photograph, 12th Standard mark list, Certificate in prescribed format signed by head of institution where currently studying and family income certificate issued by Village Officer. Candidates belonging to BPL families should upload BPL certificate issued by secretary of local body.
If any of the parent has expired, corresponding death certificate to be uploaded.
If any of the parent is differently abled, corresponding certificate to be uploaded.

Photograph :
- Recent passport size colour photograph.
- Background , preferably white.
- Casual photographs wearing caps/hats/dark glasses not acceptable.
- Resolution: 140 pixels (height) x 110 pixels (width).

Mygov.in Create a Slogan for Census 2021

The Indian Census is the most credible source of information on Demography, Economic Activity, Literacy and Education, Housing & Household Amenities, Urbanisation, Fertility and Mortality, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Language, Religion, Migration, Disability and many other socio-cultural and demographic data since 1872. It helps them in framing new policies, seeing whether the government programs are effective and identifying areas and communities which may need assistance.

To generate awareness on the importance of Census, we invite you to create a slogan for “Census 2021”.
