Are you a high school student (aged 15 to 18) or a teacher? If so we are inviting you to enter the Oxford Saïd-Burjeel Holdings Climate Change Challenge to help to tackle the climate crisis ahead of COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Through this global competition we want young people and educators across the world to contribute their ideas, and take action towards creating solutions to the greatest and most complex threat to humanity: the climate crisis.
The competition is based around five key challenges that threaten our climate:
air pollution
extreme weather
water scarcity
food security
biodiversity
The finalists will be invited to present their solutions to a distinguished audience in Baku, Azerbaijan during COP29 in November, and the winners will be invited to the United Kingdom where there will be given the unique opportunity to take part in a tailored climate change programme at Saïd Business School in Oxford in 2025, led by world-leading academics.
There are two ways to enter: as part of a team of students or as a teacher. On this page you will find full details about the submission guidelines, background on the five challenges and the judging criteria.
Student teams
Students to set out their big idea, explain their inspiration, show how they think it will make a difference and consider how their solution could be turned into a reality. Teams could include students from just a single school, or from multiple schools. Entries have to:
be from a team of three to five students aged 15-18
be submitted in the form of a 10-page PowerPoint presentation
include a video they have made, up to three minutes in length.
Teachers
High school teachers to set the agenda in the classroom with lessons that raise awareness among students about the dangers of climate change, and encourage them to think creatively about solving it. Entries have to:
be from an individual teacher
be in the form of lesson plans that integrate climate change awareness into their school’s curriculum
integrate interactive activities for critical thinking
show how they support students in creating real-world solutions to climate change.
All entries must be submitted by 15 September 2024.

COMPUDON JUNIOR is a National Championship on Digital Literacy Skills based on Microsoft’s Digital Literacy Standard. The championship aims to prepare and equip the young kids with this important skill in a fun way and then test their skill on digital literacy concepts that are essential for students in 21st century.
There are 2 levels of the championship. Up to 400 top scoring students from level 1 online exam from around the country will be invited to represent their school and region to compete in the India Finals of the Championship. They will compete for over 100 awards such as National Awards, Regional Awards, National Celebrated List, and National Merit List and on the top of all, the coveted INDIA CHAMPION of DIGITAL LITERACY AWARD. COMPUDON JUNIOR is open for students between the ages of 8-14 years (as on August 15, 2023.
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the Championship, you must: (1) have taken a qualifying COMPUDON Junior (Leve1 ) exam between April 17, 2023 and May 15, 2023; (2) be at least 8 years or older as on August 15, 2023; (3) be 14 or under 14 years as on August 15, 2023; (4) you must have the permission from your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to participate in the Championship and (5) must be enrolled in an approved academic institution.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
It is preferred that students participate in the championship through their schools. In special cases, where School is not participating but an otherwise eligible student(s) want to participate then they can do so individually. However, their participation is subject to written confirmation by the Organizer.
There will be two rounds in the championship
1st Round –students will take a qualifying exam within the School.
2nd Round will be India/National Finals Round –Top 400 qualifying students will be invited to India Finals.
Entrants will be required to test in English language only. No other language is available.

U.N. General Assembly recently adopted a resolution and declared 2023 as the “International Year of Millets”. The resolution is intended to increase public awareness on the health benefits of millets and their suitability for cultivation under tough conditions marked by climate change.
It has been decided that the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India shall organize E- quiz on the Goodness of millets and its health benefits on the MyGov portal.
