Young Scientist India is an innovation competition to promote science awareness among high school students’, to increase their understanding of science, and to attract them into scientific careers and explore, as there is a BIG VACUUM in the enrolment of young scientists in our research centers.
The YSI Competition awards over half a million rupees in prizes to the best innovation for the budding innovator/entrepreneurs in five categories that holistically represent the solution types necessary to build an economy that works for all in the digital era.

The competition is split into 5 categories.
Agriculture, App development, Electronics, Robotics, and Space Sciences.
Eligibility: Class/Grade: 8th - 12th.
Students from all over India are eligible to participate.
Challenge is divided into 3 phases for Online/Offline:
Phase 1(Completely online): Students will be informed about the Challenge and registrations will be open to send their abstracts. Abstracts which are best of all the submitted proposals will be selected for phase 2.
Phase 2 (Completely Online): Students will be presenting to the jury/ski team to make sure how their final presentation has to be in finals and select the best projects.
Phase 3 (Offline): Students will be invited to Chennai for Finals and present their projects to the Jury.
Registrations open from 5th October 2022.
Sending of Abstracts by students under the faculties of Electronics, App development, Space Science and Robotics until 25th December 2022.
1st round of validation takes place and results will be announced by 18th January 2023.
Selected students will then present their models before a jury online during the 1st week of February 2023.
There will be another set of filtration and selection during the same, and around 25 students from government category and 25 from private category will be chosen.
Chosen 50 students will have to come to Chennai for the Grand Finale during the month April / May.
3 Different problem statements will be given to each of the categories Private and Government and students will select their statements and come up with solutions.
Students will present their solutions along with a small business plan and present it before an eminent jury panel and the best 3 from each category will win the “Seed Fund” for initiating their innovation.
PRIZES:
* One WINNER each from Private schools and Government schools will be chosen separately and Rs.50,000/- Cash Prize will be awarded.
* 1st RUNNER UP will win cash prizes of Rs.30,000/- each. (1 from private and 1 from the Government School)
*. 2nd Runner Up will win a cash prize of 10,000 each. (1 from private and 1 from the Government School)
* Top 3 from each category will win Rs.1000/- cash prizes each. (from Government School and Private School)
* Certificates to all the participants reaching round 2 of the competition.
JUDGING CRITERIA
The Challenge will be judged by experts in design and technology including carefully selected academics with expertise on various challenge topics.
