The Azim Premji University Short Story Contest for Young Writers

Calling young writers across Karnataka. Send your best story! Kannada, English, ella okay.
The English faculty at Azim Premji University is happy to announce our very first short story contest for young writers in Kannada and English.

Every year, the contest will have a broad theme around which writers are invited to imagine their stories. This story can be realistic, fantastic, or anywhere in between.

In its first year, the writing contest will have two prizes, one for short fiction in English and the other for Kannada. Entering the world of writing is a daunting prospect for many writers, and we encourage young unpublished writers from across Karnataka to apply.

Theme
Model Homes Layout | ಮಾದರಿ ಬಡಾವಣೆ

You are free to interpret this theme in any way. Stories from any genre and style are welcome.

Language
Entries can be in Kannada or English. We welcome all dialects and forms of the Kannada language.

Who can enter?
Any resident of Karnataka (current or past) between the ages of 16 & 25*.

What can you write? 
Anything, everything, as long as it is short (1500 to 3000 words) and fictional. We encourage experimentation in form and language!

Prizes
Two winners (Kannada and English) will receive a certificate of recognition and book coupons worth INR 5000 each; Four runners-up (two from each language) will receive book coupons worth INR 2500.

Prizes will be announced in mid-March at a ceremony at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru.

How do I submit?
Entries must be formatted in the modern manuscript format.
Make sure your story is between 1500 and 3000 words long.

Wetlands and Human Well-being Photography contest

World Wetlands Day is observed every year on February 2nd all over the world. It is celebrated to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. This day also marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar. This year’s theme of World Wetlands Day is “Wetlands and human well-being”, which highlights the importance of conservation and sustainable use of wetlands for human well-being.


The Wetlands and Human Well-being Photography Contest would create awareness about and encourage the citizens of the country, especially the students about the conservation of wetlands.

Submission Guidelines
Participants must adhere to the highest standards of originality. Plagiarism in any form will result in immediate disqualification. All submissions must be the author’s own work, and references must be appropriately cited.
The use of AI-based tools such as ChatGpt or any other similar platforms is strictly prohibited. Entries must reflect the participant’s individual thought process and writing skills.
Submissions should align with the central theme of the competition. Participants are encouraged to effectively express their ideas, insights, and perspectives that revolve around the theme.
Incorporating personal experiences related to the theme is encouraged, as it adds depth and authenticity to the articles. However, the personal anecdotes should contribute to the overall narrative.
Entries can be submitted in English, Hindi, or any other Indian language. The article should be submitted in PDF format, containing 1200-1500 words. Maintain a readable font size of 12 for English and 14 for Hindi and other regional languages, with a line spacing of 1.5.
Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry for the competition. Multiple submissions from the same participant will lead to disqualification.
Submitted articles must be original and unpublished, even online. Entries should not have been previously published in any format to maintain fairness in the competition.
A panel of judges will be responsible for evaluating the submissions and selecting the winners. The panel’s decision is final and binding for all participants.

ATL Marathon 2023 – Research, Ideate, Innovate, Implement-

ATL Marathon 2023-24 is a national-level innovation challenge spearheaded by Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, UNICEF, and other stakeholders.
